I don't know why this guy has such a problem with Al Cowlings. The first thing I think of when I think of Al Cowlings is "very loyal friend."

Has Urban Meyer even expressed an interest in getting back into coaching? He just left a pretty cushy job at a CFB blue blood program where he had a pretty good shot at making the CFP every year and had established paternity over their biggest rival. Why would he want to walk away from that, only to get back into coaching again 2 years later to take over a dumpster fire where they’ll be expecting him to immediately compete for championships?

USC has clearly shifted their priorities. Shame.

They have a standard. You can buy your kids into USC with bribes. But... Urban Meyer can't coach the athletes.

Brooks says it's not a matter of if, but when, Clay Helton will be let go this season as the head coach at USC.

the general sense around here (Ohio) is that Urban was forced/asked to resign due to the zach smith situation, i.e. he didn't exactly leave on his own terms

he's an EXTREMELY competitive guy, IMO top 5 all time CFB coach, and isn't that old. at a place like USC, w/ it being a top 5 all time program, and the abundance of great HS recruits in california, he would absolutely run that conference by year 3, latest. he could walk in any living room and tell them that he has 3 nat'l championships in the 2 toughest conferences, and would help return USC to the top in no time

Meyer would have SC perenially in the top 5. He's a sleazeball, but he can recruit and coach. SC has all the resources to be great, but an incompetent admin and Helton's a dumpster fire.

The fact SC would consider not jumping on Urban is testament to how awful their administration is.

Because it also is a Blue Blood in the Heart of California with fantastic recruits close by. It’s an Ego thing guy can turn that disaster around in 2-3 years tops and be in the playoffs by year 4-5. If he wins another National Championship he won’t ever catch Saban but he will have done it at 3 schools.

Consider the source but Finebaum last Aug. when this first came up, said that he used to be a big UM fan, and his shows did reflect that, but then he spent some time last Jan/ Feb. at UF and was "made aware" of a LOT, his emphasis, of dirt on UM. Stuff that had never been reported. To the extent Finebaum called him a "despicable human being and one of the biggest liars I know". Word may finally be getting out, especially if Ohio St. did end up running him off as alleged here.

President's name is Carol Folt. She was UNC's President until we showed her the door in January. She came from Dartmouth and is PC/woke to the 100th degree.

She recently put in a call to UNC's AD Bubba Cunningham about his coming to USC as the new AD. He basically hung up on her.

I feel for sorry for the Trojans if they have to hire a new coach.

Urban has left a shite stain at the last few places he coached.

He also left national championship trophies, which help mask the shite stains slightly.

This has always been my personal feelings on Urban. He did a lot of really bad stuff at UF (like yelling at the reporter who was just doing his job; recruiting anyone to win etc), and that was what ended his time there. I was not excited in the least when he got hired at OSU, but I'm certainly not going to stop watching my university, so I supported him.

I was somewhat pleasantly surprised by the types of kids he recruited to OSU. You will always have some problems being at a big time university, but overall the kids who are in the NFL now from Urban's time are damn good players and aren't serious issues (the one exception being Zeke but that's kind of for another thread). He started real life wednesdays at OSU which is helping the kids who won't be playing in the NFL get exposure to great places to work.

He made some mistakes in coaches he hired/moved to different coaching positions etc. and that was really what was wearing him down IMO, along with having some legit health concerns.

I think his UF "stink" will always be a cloud over him which is probably fair based on what has come out after the fact. I would be surprised if a similar type of cloud comes out from his time at OSU
