Reminder, under last year’s CFP rules, Tulane would have had a bye.

And a top 4 seed. The CFP improved this year.

Hot take: I think it (the old way) was a necessary evil.

Conf championship games aren't going anywhere, they make too much money. So to keep the stakes high, giving a bye to the winner make sense. Now the obvious downside of that is you get the Tulanes and Boises sneaking in. But I think that's better than teams not caring about the CCG.
Maybe limit that rule to ranked P4 champs or something.

1 step closer to not allowing teams that everyone can agree on.

Ole miss got a bye and Pete Golding about to have more playoff wins than a lot of coaches.

Absolutely not.

Getting rid of auto bids that were designed when there were 5 legit conferences.

I have not had the opportunity to visit Pearl Harbor yet, but it is definitely a trip that I have to take at some point. If nothing else, I want to pay my respects to those that perished there.

It’s definitely the old man in me but I think every “advancement” in college football has been worse than the last
