UF has been near the top 2-3 teams for the past several years for being the most penalized team in the NCAA also, people are just going crazy after one game and think the refs are being told to put UF in the SECCG

Bama is always the least penalized team in the SEC. And those guys live and work in Birmingham.

Anyone surprised?

For 2009:
National ranking for penalties (Higher ranking = Fewer penalties) by yardage:
TN = 3rd
FL = 24th
MS = 25th
LSU = 28th
KY = 45th
Vandy = 55th
MSU = 56th
AL = 71st
AU = 72nd

If you sort by number of penalties, the numbers change a bit. AL goes to 75th.

You were saying?

I watched the whole UT-OU game. bullshite on the refs deciding it. Both teams played like shite. Landry Jones threw a pick that decided the game. The refs had nothing to do with it. They actually did a damn good job reviewing plays and getting the calls right. OU dodged bullets in the fumbled punt and the one where the slip screen failed and almost resulted in a Texas TD.

UT should have beaten them by more because of the defense. That being said, the refs didn't affect the game.

SEC officials are just boys from their respective schools. SEC doesn't have near the strictness of background checks that other conferences do.

USC is normally the most penalized team in the conference, which is fine because they play like fricking tards half the time, but USC's opponents are less penalized than anyone elses's opponents for 4 or 5 straight years, which makes no sense considering USC's talent advantage should cause more holdings ect.

I think Ohio State has the lowest average of penalty yardage called against its opponents in the Big Ten the past 5 years or something like that, also, FWIW. This basically puts a mini-dent in that theory, too.

I will say, though, that it probably does happen some places. That WVU/Pitt officiating a few years ago was a travesty.
