honestly don't know.
It's not just baseball, either.
Exactly. It’s the model now, like it or not. And I’m pretty sure it’s been covered, but tourney ball has NOTHING on cheer and AAU.
The issue is that since that’s the way baseball was played 30 years ago, according to most everyone one this board, that’s the way it has to stay. And it doesn’t work like that. That’s not reality.
Adapt or die.

The rec league we are currently in has 12 teams with about half the teams being average to above average, resulting in some competitive games.
Competitive games is the main issue I saw with rec sports. The kids who play club want to be on the same rec team as each other. Those teams are going to dominate the teams without a lot of club players. By the time 8th grade rolled around, all the club players consolidated to one of two teams. They kicked the crap out of 99% of the teams. All the effort and time for practice resulted in one competitive game.

now if they are the same season....thats not easy for sure.
I haven’t done a deep dive yet since daughter just turned 9, but club soccer and club volleyball seem to have a number of conflicts with weekend tournaments in the Spring.
We will more than likely have to drop down to rec level play in either soccer or volleyball, at some point.
I’ll start doing some more research within next year, but volleyball doesn’t seem to start with the craziness as early as baseball does.

I had 2 daughters playing rec volleyball right now (9/10 and 7/8) and both are in the upper half of players in respective leagues.
It is not so bad.
Start playing club as soon as a club will take them. Get all the playing time for them you can.
Maybe you can crack the code where I could not. The politics surrounding "try outs" and who makes the team is crazy.

lsu777 is about to blow your dumbass up. If you spend $250k to get your kids a free ride to LSU Eunice you do it every time.

Of course it is. How could it possibly compete with this?

We're dealing with this now with my son between soccer and baseball. He's going to have to decide which one he wants to continue at the competitive level and go back to rec or school for the other.
