By the quality of broadcast- not the sports they carry or the trash daytime stuff:
1) NBC - I think they do a great job of capturing the feel of different sports - from the NFL to the Olympics. Watching ND-Clemson last year, I kept wishing they did more CFB.
2) CBS/Turner - Broadcasts feel big time. They do a great job with the tournament, Master’s, Army-Navy, SEC on CBS but are infamous for too many commercials. NBA on TNT crew is still great.
3) Fox - Just mediocre live broadcasts.
4) ABC/ESPN - Dirt cheap broadcasts. Graphics are obnoxious and often contain errors, intros fail to capture the uniqueness of each sport, sound is terrible... feels very much like it’s run by accountants

Fox’s picture quality is the weakest.

If the Raiders ever clean house pairing Mike Tirico and Mike Mayock would be tGOAT

There’s a big gap between NBC/CBS and Fox/Disney

That has a lot to do with FOX’s local affiliates not being full 780p HD

Correct.... NBC has the highest picture quality and it’s not close.

Agreed. Do you think this is the case because NBC has fewer events to manage the production for to make it better quality? ESPN and Fox have a ton of college sports events that NBC doesn't have to worry about.
On the otherhand if you're strictly looking at the NFL, NBC and ESPN both only have one primtime game each. And the quality of MNF is trash and inferior in every possible way to SNF.

I'd say NBC is the best because if the diversity of sports they cover as well. Don't underestimate the experience NBC gains in doing the Olympics.

I agree with your list when it comes to the NFL. With college football, I’d probably switch Fox and CBS. Gus Johnson on the call at Fox always makes for an exciting game and they have good analysts. The SEC on CBS is iconic, but you still have Gary Danielson and the game is at least an hour longer than it needs to be. And obviously Chris and Kirk on the call for Disney is better than the other networks but the rest of their broadcasts are mediocre. I rarely watch NBC college football but I think they had good coverage when I watched ND vs Clemson.

NBC is by far the best, and ESPN/ABC is by far the worst.

Maybe but even their regular season NHL and Premier League broadcasts on NBCSN are done well

I like the Fox crew including the Big Noon kickoff team. That said the picture quality is still an issue.
The CBS commercials are an issue, but they do a great job of showing college bands, fans, cheerleaders, etc. Even CBSSN service academy and American conference games feel big time.
I actually don’t like Kirk on games. He never shuts up. He’s a good analyst, but he needs to learn to let some moments breath.
ESPN does a terrible job of capturing the college game. If you watch a Texas A&M game on CBS, pre kickoff it’ll pan over the cadets and 12th man. If you watch a Texas A&M game on ESPN, you’ll see a close up of Kellen Mond.

I agree that NBC and CBS offer the best picture quality and best production. Fox has the worst pictures and sound. CBS has the best graphics and best picture quality. It seems to me that NBC and CBS have more cameras and camera angles. Of course the fact that ESPN covers the Sunbelt means that they have to cut costs across all events.

I agree w/this. NBC is also very good w/hockey. Doc Emerick, outside of Nessler & Kevin Harlan, is the best PBP guy in the business that most people don't know about.

Honestly, I feel like the on air talent has significantly declined for ESPN. There’s no depth. I feel like when I was a kid, their 5th team used to be good names. Now, it sucks.

Hands down, Fox does have the best "sad music when a football player gets hurt" that they play going to commercial.
