IMHO without the assistance of any quantitative evidence:

1. Utah 2008 (beat Bama in Sugar)
2. Utah 2004 (beat Pitt in Fiesta)
3. TCU 2009 (TBD)
4. Boise 2009 (TBD)
5. Boise 2006 (Beat OU in Fiesta)
6. Louisville 2004(no BCS 1-loss ot Miami)
7. TCU 2008 (no BCS but 1 loss to OU)
8. Tulane 1998 (12-0)
9. Hawaii 2007 (Lost to UGA in Sugar)

Boise 2004>Boise 2006 imo even though they lost their bowl game

Also, the Utah teams are on a whole different level from these other teams

Utah's defense last year was waaaay better than in 2004. The offense wasn't as explosive, but basically nobody scored on them last year and they played a much more dificult schedule than in 04

I wish looking back that Utah 2004 was not treated like such a novelty experiment and would have been paired with a serious BCS caliber team.

the fact that most of america thinks that BSU was the first "BCS Buster" is so annoying to me

They were, but they beat 0 good teams compared to last years team that beat 4 ranked teams, and two that finished in the top 10

Miami(OH) from 2003 has to be on that list somewhere.

They had Ben Roethlisberger at QB and destroyed almost everybody they played, except for Iowa, who went 10-3. That was also the year of the "MAC attack," where that conference was probably as good as it ever had been
