Yet it was pretty obvious when it happened that something was up. The networks knew it was happening and (if I remember correctly) they took a commercial break at exactly the right time, and then came back to the draft in time to jump in for a live announcement of the pick. They never go to a live selection in the 7th round, except for Mr. Irrelevant. They don't even acknowledge 7th round picks until 4 or 5 picks down the line.
When it happened I said either one of two things happened: the Rams tipped off the NFL that they were picking Sam here, or the NFL told the Rams that they were picking Sam there. But to do that, they had to know that nobody else was jumping in before the Rams to grab him.
My theory at the time was that it was that it had something to do with allowing Gregg Williams back into the NFL. I didn't even think about Hard Knocks.

What I want to know is, what will be the backsplash on Goodell for this?
By itself, this revelation isn't a big deal.
But since we've been hearing about Goodell being in hot water with the owners, manipulating the draft (and getting caught) may really go against him here.

Goodell should be sent on an exploratory mission aimed at discovering what the Sun's surface is made out of.

it's pretty shitty to think that some deserving player out there didn't get drafted because he was straight.
It's WAY better to be an undrafted FA than get drafted at then end of the draft. Money is almost the same and you can pick the best spot that gives you the best chance of making a roster.

Please tell me you don't believe this shtick?
He works for the Owners, he doesn't do anything they don't want done. The only owners whining, are the old school guys, they have been over taken by the Big Money owners, and pushed aside, their power is little.
