Super teams will be limited naturally. By players who are naturally competitive and would rather beat the best than make a super team. Lebron was the outlier here. Guys like harden, dame, etx are all leading the charge of going away from the super team route. Even kawhi doesn’t wanna play with lebron and is more likely to go to LAC than lakers.

The Internet culture is upset that players dictate movement more.

But at the end of the day, organizations will always make moves to bring the best talent together.

The Lakers and Celtics have been doing this for decades.

They also need to find some way to limit super teams.

Are there really enough superteams out there now to say that they should be limited?

it’s not that the player dictate that people don’t like. It is cheating the spirit of competition. It is to beat the best. Not team up with them. We know Kevin feel slighted bc his excellence the last few years is being Downplayed Bc he joined a super team. Lebron will always have a big chink in his armor Bc he couldn’t win a title without a super team.

A guy like dirk is universally loved Bc he lead his sqaud to a title over a super team and he didn’t have one himself. A guy like dame is universally respected bc oh his outlook on super teams. Guys around the league are paying attention. You get more respect for spurning a super team and coming up short than you do for taking the easy way to a tile by making a super team. Durant has less respect now than he did before he left okc.

1 is too many IMO.

Honestly, they should never say elite players can't play together if they're willing to take a pay cut, but I think they should have a hard salary cap.

Warriors are so damn high above the cap and luxury tax level, its crazy.

And yet the CBA benefited the Lakers so they acquired Magic, Worthy, no one bats an eye about.

Kobe Bryant was a top 5 prospect (@ worst in his draft) yet told teams he’d play for 3 teams so a draft deal was worked out. No one bats an eye.

Why is it when teams make moves no one complains about the spirit of competition?

Because media narratives liken sports to some mythical accomplishments, though what happens off the court is business. That’s it. Durant was recruited to the Warriors, they planned to get him for years.

He threw a wrench in the LeBron narrative, just like Morey/Presti threw a wrench in the OKC quartet Future.

On the court is a different story...he plays the best basketball of his life.

And what happens if a player ascends to elite level or declines during said contract?

The NBA should switch to a European soccer format if we are being completely honest (along with eliminating a few teams) or at very least having two divisions with the bottoms teams being relegated to the lower leagues for poor performance.

NBA plays enough games that a points system would work and then you could have the "FA Cup" that brings together teams from each division

1 point for dunk.
2 inside the current charging/blocking arc.
3 for up to current 3 pt line.
4 for beyond current 3 line.
5 from 35 feet.
6 beyond half court.

Overtime. Only one minute.

Two balls. Each team gets one to start at opposite ends. You can steal, do everything as normal.

All rules same as usual, whatever that is.

Yet somehow they could afford a new stadium in SF.

Like hitting your head against a rock.

Mr Noble Try-Hard vs 6 all stars (alas Boogie) including two league MVPs KD and Curry, and an NBA finals mvp iguadala and Klay, a guy who got 60 in 3 quarters of play.

Show me a team without a clutch of all stars and I'll show you golfers come finals week.

This is certainly interesting.
Radical for sure, but interesting.

As far as whether or not it'd "improve nba gameplay," I'm not sure. Your theory assumes:
1- it sucks now AND
2- it sucks because of increased 3pt shots.
Maybe it does suck, but maybe it sucks because of the Warriors firepower.

Kevin is leaving Bc he wants to improve his legacy. Playing for a super team doesn’t really earn you respect no matter how much you win. Bc the deck is stacked. Heck if Kevin goes to the knicks and wins a couple titles he is in the mix for GOAT.

Kevin is the best player on a previously unstoppable roster that is carried by him now, and then he wins say this year + 2 more, he’s in the convo for goat no matter what the message boards say.
