Just a question about a call last night.
WR on home side lined up offside. Side judge on visitor side threw flag but side judge on home side ( three feet from said WR) did not.
Was this his call to make? Just wondering what answer is by the rule book.

If the home side line judge lined him up, then he should’ve spoken up after the flag. Kid should have gotten out there early and checked with the ref/had him line him up. So if he did that, then it’s a bad call. If he just ran out there late and was offsides, it is what it is.

He was lined up offside, I don't know if he checked with his side judge, but wasnt't sure if the opposite side judge could make that call.
Thanks

If you think about who had the better vide of offsides, it would have been the opposing side ref.

Telling whether a guy 3 feet from you is past a ball that's 20 yards away isn't easy.

Can you see the ball? No? He’s offsides.

This.

If the WR checked with the near-side ref and the ref cleared him, then the flag should have been picked up.

However, it's easier to see that issue from the far side, then it is the near side.

If the other side official lined him up - no encroachment

Are u sure that is he player that it was actually called on?

I haven't seen encroachment called on offense in over a decade

I don't think you can file for a change of venue in a football game.

What state was this in?

Either one can call it but if he checked w either HL or LJ depending on side - and was told ok that's an issue.

Or if he had been told many times to back up

Was the signal by the white hat for encroachment or are you going by the pa announcer
