Then throw the Big East in with the Pac 10 and Big 10

CCG suck, talk about watering down the season (See 2001 SEC), the Pac-10 schedule is by far the best, every team plays each other. They may puss out and call teams with the same record co-champs, but that is easy to eliminate.

8 Team Playoff: 6 Conference Champions, 2 At-Large Teams

That would make out of conference games almost meaningless.

Not in three way ties where each team has a 1-1 record within the group.

Not at all. Every winner of a Major Conference should get a shot and the 2 At-Large Bids just rounds it out.

Why? Why not include all Div IA conferences?

They aren't allowed to. By NCAA rules your conference must have 12 teams to have a CG.

good point, however 3 way ties like that are rare, though I realize we may have one in the Big 12 this year. I rather it be determined by BCS or computer ranking in those rare instances than having a team with the 3rd best record in the Conf get lucky and win one game.

They could just add 2 and 1 teams... but if you're overhauling the BCS, scrap the 6 guaranteed BCS conferences, and just go with the 6 highest ranked conference champions. There's no way the ACC or Big East champ deserves one of only 8 playoff spots this season.

I think the BCS is killing cross-regional regular season matchups between top tier teams. The cost of a loss is too great. Imagine a system in which only conference champions went. That means, essentially, your OOC record would be irrelevant. It would encourage teams to play high profile OOC games to toughen up before hitting the conference slate. We’d see a return of high profile OOC games, which have almost died in the BCS era.

And nobody would give a crap about those games, since they're virtually meaningless.

The chief advantage of this system is Notre Dame wouldn't have gotten in.

But tOSU got in five of ten times.

I really don't have a big problem with the BCS except when there's more than two undefeated teams, like 2004. However, I do think a two loss team from a very tough conference could beat an undefeated or one loss team from a weak conference. That's why I would like a playoff - let each conference's best play to see who's the best.

WHAT?! When Texas and Ohio State played in '06, was that game meaningless? Or the '05 game, for that matter.

Go BCS top 8, no matter what.

Take the 6 highest ranked conference champs period

Good point.

You're telling me that no one tunes in for, say, early season cross-regional college basketball games. They're a huge draw. I'd much rather watch LSU play Michigan than four patsies like this year.

And if there were two at-large spots, your biog OOC scalps would matter a great deal. The scheduling can't get worse than it is now. For all of the talk of how now eveyr week is a playoff, it's lead teams down the road to try and re-create 1 vs. 16 matchups every chance they can get. Because you don't want to lose.
