I just don't think that Ohio State should be rewarded for not playing in their conference championship game. If you bump them over Georgia, you're essentially doing that.

We aren't being rewarded. We're sitting at home, hoping for chaos.

Georgia didn't have to play Bama in the regular season. If they did, is it even a point of discussion right now?

I understand an argument for Washington. Not UGA though.

so what in the world is your arguyment for OSU? UGA would be 12-1 that played for a conference title while OSU would be 11-1 that did not. Both teams' loss would be a team in the top 6. Ohio state's 2 best wins would be to teams currently AP ranked 10 and 16. UGA's 2 best wins would be to teams currently AP ranked 9 and 11.

Honestly there is no debate at all that OSU shoudl go over UGA in this case, unless you just subscribe to the coaches poll method of "well a team was ranked X this week so we can only move them up or down a certain amount this week". UGA would have a better/more deserving resume in just about any metric.

If you think they would, the committee should put them in over Texas.

Bama could have lost to south Florida and then had the rest of their season play out as it did. And they’d still be a Vegas favorite over Texas today.

Should committee still put Bama in? Obviously not. Because the games on the field need to mean something.

I hate Bama as much anybody, but I'm not going to pretend that a Bama team (who would just be coming off of a win against UGA) would be a decent sized favorite over Texas.

Wasn’t Bama favored by a decent bit in the matchup earlier this season? Results should matter - not who we think would win a matchup but who actually won. Bama was favored big over Auburn and needed a miracle.

Ohio State played for a conference title on Saturday.

The difference between Ohio State and Georgia would be what? Ball State? UAB?

That's very fair. In my head beating Penn St and Notre Dame carry more weight than Ole Miss and Missouri. But your point is very valid, and I'm probably looking at it the wrong way.

Washington has looked mediocre since they eked out that win over Oregon.

The OSU/UGA debate probably isn't a realistic one anyway. OSU has a better path IF UGA wins. They need Bama, Texas and FSU to play themselves out of contention.

I don't disagree, but I think it's pretty ridiculous for anyone to act like there's no argument for Ohio State over Georgia if Georgia loses on Saturday.

Sure, but at what point do the games actually matter?
Ask yourself this as it pertains to Oregon.

Zero top 25 wins.

How have any games mattered if Oregon with zero ranked wins is ahead of Alabama?

ETA: They’ve got one now. But have obviously been without one and still ranked ahead of Alabama.

If UGA loses their loss is worse than OSU's.

UM ranked much higher than Bama.

As a tcu fan this reminds me a bit of 2014. Baylor beat us head on but they lost to some bad team (can’t remember who, okie state?) everybody wanted tcu in but if head to head mattered more shouldn’t baylor have deserved it? I don’t remember any argument for baylor. Everybody knew it was tcu that got screwed.
