Nolan Ryan in his prime. 101 fastball with a curve that broke about a foot and a half.

ETA: And he could guide it with pinpoint accuracy.

Which would explain why his ERA was north of 3, in a pitcher's era. And his pinpoint control explains his career lead in walks. Ryan's a terrible answer because he would challenge every hitter, and one guy would likely put the ball into next week.

As someone already pointed out, the reason Ryan had a 3.00+ lifetime era is that he leads the mlb in career walks.

Also, he has the highest career walks per 9 inn. at 4.7. Dicey to put him in for a single inning.

I'll cast my vote for Rivera because his numbers speak for themselves, and because, as everyone knows, he's virtually equally effective against righties and lefties.

I said Gibson earlier, but I would also like to see someone who throws an eephus.

I'd go with Gibson. Thought about Goose Gossage since it's only 1 inning.

I love Mo, but this is ridiculous. If 1999-2000 Pedro pitched in the pen he would have probably had a .5 ERA with like 18 k/9.

The guy had a 1.74 ERA with 12 k/9 and a 2.07 ERA with 13 k/9 as a starter in the American League in the middle of an offensive explosion. Those numbers are insane.
