So we're just rewriting definitions now to fit what you think the word should mean?
Just kidding. I understand what you're saying.

lol, I don't think the dictionaries thought about it long and hard enough how to define the terms. Or they just define how it is commonly used.

I kind of agree with you, but I'm not going to judge the physicality of a sport/activity until I've tried it. Especially when it requires driving 300mph.

I don't doubt it's a physical sport. I'm just saying you can be Usain Bolt or you can be Tony Stewart... it doesn't matter. Usain Bolt's athletic gifts mean nothing when drag racing or racing stock cars.
You can't improve athletically and expect any notable improvement in your driving. That's why race car drivers are not athletes.

Not sure I would classify it as a sport, but top fuel drag racers are fricking nuts.
It's crazy enough sitting 100 feet away from one when they take off, but to be sitting right in front of that motor and going from 0 to 325mph in 4 seconds is insane.

I have a lot of trouble differentiating between Calvin Johnson, LeBron James, and Tony Stewart, myself.

Golf is a sport... but golfers aren't athletes.

I can't imagine going from a standstill to 300 mph in about 3 seconds would feel too good to the average person.
