He wouldn't have gotten near the heat that Phil did, if any at all. Tiger supporters will back Tiger through anything.

What is one possible answer that would have made the players think it over and made it a productive meeting?
Give it to em straight.

It sounds like he gave em coach speak and acted like he didn’t know what happened(slightly exaggerated).

He made this deal. He should have come today with answers.

Because the NFL is not by any stretch an organization of individuals. If you could magically your snap your finger and have half the NFL suddenly leave for the USFL, the NFL would survive.
Would you like to snap your finger and half the NFL move to the USFL?

Was the PGA Tour about to die?

I can't see any way that Monahan is in his current position within 6 months.
Imagine him making this deal behind everyone’s back and then everyone left being stuck with the decision.

If he’s gone in 6 months and was the reason the deal was made, is the deal still on?

The players can make a choice.

Block the deal and vote out jay.

Or

Accept the new deal with Emperor Jay as CEO

Hard to say, but it seems like they needed a major infusion of cash that sponsors were not willing to cough up so,they decided Saudi money wasn’t that bad after all.

Can the players do that? If they vote him out can we get back to the battle?

I have no idea if this is a terrible move or not. I don’t understand it.

I just hope it came down to more than just, “well the Saudis have so much money we can’t not say yes.”

Where does that stop? Certainly not at sports.

Once the players settle down, I think they will happily take the deal. The biggest hill to get over from their perspective is how they handle letting players from liv back. To me, that will likely be the biggest back and forth to iron out. Besides that, regardless of the emotions or being held out in the dark, this benefits them.

I don’t see how legally this deal can be done with Jay and Jay only. Maybe it can, but I’m not sure how that would work considering it ultimately is the players tour

Every golf media clown who obediently falls in line and tweets what they are told.

Every PGA player that criticized the players that left for LIV by claiming some Kashoggie guy was their best friend.

Money is all that matters. The Saudi’s can and have bought US politicians, which is a far bigger deal than sports

Who is they?

Let’s TRY to ignore the urge to dunk on a few folks who have flip flopped in the last year. I know it’s fun but it’s irrelevant.

don’t really recall that from many players. It was a media and PGA tour admin obnoxious talking point

The players that got mad simply wanted the liv players to shut up once leaving the tour. For example I don’t ever really remember a harsh word being said about guys like brooks, dj, or Varner who simply took the money and left. If you have players trash talking guys like DJ and brooks for taking blood money, please do share

Brother let me tell you, please do not pay attention to politics if you don’t want your above premise to be true.

JT sure seemed mad about evil blood money DJ

quote:

“It’s a bummer,” Thomas said. “I’ve thought a lot about it, and people are entitled to choose as they wish. I don’t dislike DJ now. I don’t think he’s a bad dude. I’m not going to treat him any differently. He’s entitled to choose as he wishes.”

And Rory sure seems to hate that Devil brooks when he played his practice rounds with him at the masters

I understand that.

But we’re getting close to destroying the illusion for many folks(I hope). I’m sure shel will tell you Soros isn’t fricking cities with his influence. I doubt he was worried about Biden slinging access during his half century career in politics.

We cool with the the Saudis buying and forgiving 60% of our debt to gain some influence? That might be a great deal for us.

Rory’s comments on Saudi money

quote:

“If the Saudis are hell-bent on spending money in golf, let’s try to get it spent in a way that benefits the wider ecosystem. That’s where I would like to see it going.”

quote:

“In this day and age, everything is just so intertwined. “It’s hard to separate sport from politics and dirty money from clean money.

So there is Rory from the very beginning saying he is fine with taking Saudi money into golf.
