The president of the USGA said that all those who qualify, still qualify. They weren't changing the rules
for this year's tournament. It's 2 weeks out. It would be very difficult for them to make changes now. They didn't comment on what would happen moving forward.

They're going to play majors bc they will receive OWGR pts for playing in LIV events.
Sigh. Follow the discussion. Our discussion is based off the premise LIV has not rankings points and goes to court

What if all the other leagues open the LIV players except the PGA tour?
Given all the other Tours who make up the OWGR board are partners of the PGA Tour and are also losing players to LIV, I really doubt they don't all fall in line with one another.

Everyone is assuming everything is relying on the PGA tour,
I don't think anyone is assuming that. I think they are assuming, and rightfully so, it will come down to the OWGR ultimately

what if LIV is able to force the hand in the majors to allow LIV players in a different door?
No tour, not even the PGA Tour, has any power to force the hands of the majors. The majors are their own thing.

Lol! Golf sucks

I don't think those older guys like McDowell, Louis, Westwood, etc. do care a whole lot based on their comments at the press conference. They seemingly are using this tour as a semi-retirement gig so they can make a lot of money and not play much golf. The only players who probably do care are guys like Gooch, Phil, DJ, and Bryson, Phil mainly just on principle and his ego IMO. It was honestly very apparent, too, that all of them have been receiving different legal advice based on how they're all approaching resigning or not resigning their PGA membership.
One thing Greg Norman has made clear from the get-go, it's going to court. The term "free agent" is about to get legally defined for a PGA player.

as of now, they don't. They have applied to receive OWGR points. The board who decides this are the same people who don't want LIV to survive.

Except the PGA tournament

Right. After this year, when their ranking points run out, then what?
Do you get court TV?

Sure, this was never not going to Court. That is probably the only crystal clear thing (I think) everyone can agree on

The PGA Championship is run by the PGA of America, which is not the same thing as the PGA Tour.

If anyone thought that the PGA was not going to conduct itself as the monopoly that they are, they were sadly mistaken. This has been a legal proceeding waiting to happen since its conception.
But first things first, are PGA players, free agents? Can't wait for that answer.

The thought of awarding points to a tour in which every player in the field is automatically guaranteed a finish for every tournament is ridiculous.
So the WGC'S and FedEx Cup playoffs outside of the first event shouldn't get points?

I wish to provide you with an update and share information regarding the current and former PGA TOUR players who are participating in the Saudi Golf League's event in London today.
not sure if this was posted already but this is petty AF that the PGA said this in their memo.

John fricking Houston who isn't even competitive on the Champions tour is in the RBC

The overall field has the same exact strength of field as the RBC

That's very debatable. The only 1 for sure is the 1 vote from the PGA Tour representative.

Here is a link to an article with the LIV Tour players (even including Bryson) and their current OWGR. I'll let you do the math, but the average is not going to be even remotely close to the field in a PGA Tour event
You're right, the Portland event will have A WAY higher average ranking than many Tour events

Do you have a link to this? Because I wouldn't doubt it.
A lot of people think PGA tour events have the field strength of a major, and they often are not anywhere close. I'd love to see a comparison of the two fields.

If I’m a great college player coming up I don’t know how I could turn this down if given the invite.
No cut, 4 million individual payout if I win an event, split 3 million on the side if my team hits, as of now can still play the majors, shittttttt

The biggest worry the PGA has is IF Tiger decides to go…
