He's right... although I don't think he would have been as fierce a critic in 2004

PC has always been a proponent of the playoffs. He has supported a playoff even when his team won the BCS. Need to get your facts straight.
If Les was in a similar situation and he lobbied for votes or a playoff, LSU fans would not have the same reaaction. In fact, they'd expect him to do it.

The PAC-10 really sucks this year and that is to blame for the drop in BCS ranking. Of course, the upset by OSU hurts as well.

The NCAA does not allow a conference championship.

But when an SEC coach lobbies for such, he is right on target, huh? No bias in this thread, huh?.

I know. He's beaten inferior competition by similar scores to other mediocre Pac 10 teams like Cal and Oregon State. But apparently he thinks he should get credit for it.

Not true. Fans on this board beat up on Mark Richt just as much when he was lobbying last year.

Holy crap people.

Pete Carroll is great for college football. He is an outstanding coach. He is a rare one - much like Les Miles - that actually speaks his mind to reporters, instead of continually retreating into "coachspeak".

Carroll has always been a proponent of a playoff. Always.

I hope that Carroll stays at USC forever. If he goes back to the NFL, the sport of college football will be worse for it.

pete carrol doesnt like it cause usc gets popped by an unranked team on the road every year........
i dont like the bcs i mean damn any time a team can lose to an unranked team in the last week of the season and still get to play for the title thats bull shite

So you're saying that if Bama loses only one game to Auburn at the end of the year, goes on to win the SEC championship game, and ends up number 2 in the nation that they shouldn't get to play for the BCS championship. Right?

Yet there was an article this week where USC stated its recruiting success is actually hurting its ranking.

Since USC is soaking up all the west coast recruits, none of other Pac-10 teams can compete.

However, even with all this talent, USC manages to lose 1-2 games against inferior talent in the Pac-10. Who's fault it that? Not the BSC system I tell you.

The weak Pac-10 is the reason USC has to schedule a tough OOC which is close to the reason a strong SEC is the reason my SEC teams have a weak OOC.

I'm not quite sure what you're asking me. My response was to the Bama fan who had a problem with this.

AGREED. Look up the threads. LSU fans KILLED the UGA fans. For better or worse, the "playoffs" started in September. Every week is a playoff.

He said the same thing last year about who would win a playoff at the end of the season, blah, blah, blah. The National Champion is not the best team at the end of the year it is the best team over the course of the year. If you lose 3 games early in the season but continue to improve and hurt players get healthy, you may be unbeatable by the end of the year. Too bad, you lost 3 games. Totally flawed logic.

Every week is a playoff game. Unfortunately, voters tend to let early losses slide. You lose late and most of the time it hurts more. I think that a playoff would devalue the regular season. There is pressure to win every game. If you could go into the season and know that you can loses one or even two and still make it into a playoff, would that be as exciting?

Please see LSU fans reaction to AU in 2004. They went on for years how AU was left out and if there had been a playoff or if AU had started off 1 or 2 in the polls, that they woudl have played in the BCS CG. Granted there were many who were glad to see AU out, but the majority were in support.

Also, if Les had done the same, LSU fans would certainly support his point of view. Shoot, LSU fans here gripe about not having playoffs all the time. No bias here, huh?
