is this a joke? If a GA calls the police, he talks to a secretary or rookie cop. If JoePa calls he talks to the Chief.

come on dude.

Look Joe Pa makes intergrity a major part of his persona. He goes into people's houses telling parents to trust him with their kids. The uproar on this is valid.

I'm not one who thinks he should get canned after 60+ years of good he did when the bad he did is follow the legal system in place. The things he has done for the sport and the university far far far far outweigh this IMO.
dude. he knew some guy was banging kids and didn't say anything. that's f*&ked up. we don't need to analysis it anymore.

the uproar is valid, 110% valid, but there are more people behind the scenes that deserve the blame over Joe Pa. Joe Pa is the face of the school, which is why he is getting a shite ton of undeserved criticism.

And because he was complicit. And of course the face of the school is going to take the most heat. The CEO of BP didn't cause the oil leak, but in the end it was his fault.

Where do you get that he didn't say anything? He just didn't tackle Sandusky and put him in handcuffs like a lot of people seem to have wanted.

We just would have wanted him to do the right thing, which IS call the police. End of story.

Does anyone know what kind of relationship Paterno had with Sandusky following his retirement in '99? I mean, if I had such a close friend and co-worker for 30 years and heard he might've been raping kids, whether or not he was already retired, I would've confronted him and asked what the hell was going on.
Something doesn't smell right when JoePa has a GA tell him something inappropriate about one of his friends and all he does is pass the buck to school administrators.

Your posts in this thread are horrifically disgusting.

EXACTLY our point. It was only his fault to the idiots that let the media tell them that. He was nowhere near the oil rig when it exploded and had zero input into the day to day operation.

Joe Pa and Sandusky were not close friends.

What else do you expect people to do though? It's Joe Paterno, a legend and the most influential and powerful person in the entire Penn State athletic department. Maybe he did what he thought was right, but all of this happened during his tenure, by one of his associates and friends, in his football facility. You would think Paterno would feel angered and disgusted by the fact that Sandusky could perpetuate such behavior in the facility and get away with it, but no. And I think that's what people are questioning. Why did he not, as a person, think more of it? Why did he not do whatever was in his power to separate his program from such behavior?

Except Joepa is at fault here too. He could have stopped this 13 years ago, and then was complicit in the coverup.

"Hi police, this is JoePa. I had a GA come to me last night and say they saw something disturbing. I didn't want to talk to anyone in the administration first, I just wanted to go straight to you guys. I have no way of knowing if these claims are baseless or if something actually happened, but I definitely wanted to immediately call you and let you know that something might have happened. But I don't know what. Have a good one."

Complicit how? By reporting it to the administration he was supposed to?

This whole thing is Joe Pa and PSU trying to save face. If they turn it over to the police the minute they found out about it, their reps are STill tarnished bc they allowed it to happen.
PSU rolled the dice that they could keep it quiet and it blew up in their face. It went from being a warehouse fire to the Chicago fire by trying to cover it up. It is obvious PSU attempted to cover this up.

Except that he knew that he had a history of child abuse. The 02 thing was not the first incident.

By allowing the admin to cover it up, and not going to the police. Look this is simple, its right and wrong. I don't know how you don't see this. Maybe you cant tell the difference between right and wrong. Everything that happened here is wrong. There is no defending anyone in this situation.
