It's not so bad. The fans that irritate me the most are the ones like my step-brother who is from El Paso,TX.....he's a Cowboys,Yankees,Dodgers,Notre Dame,Lakers fan. Explain that one please. We fight all the time. Let's just see who has the most championships and let that be my team!!! Pussy.

half or more of LSU fans in La. never went there.
I agree about frontrunners, though.

Again, he did not go to LSU. But I damn well bet he was a bigger LSU fan than you will ever be.

So take your condescending bullshite and shove it down your throat. You don't know everything, and you're not as smart and cool as you think you are.

My Grandfather has a story thats prety much identical, just substitute Korea for Vietnam...too damned poor to go to LSU with a family to raise...I thank God every day considering his health that he got to see 2003 2007 and 2010 when the teams he lived and died by won Championships...

My dad has been a lifelong fan of the Longhorns, but he didn't have the grades or the money to go, he ended up in Vietnam instead. I honestly don't think I've ever seen him happier than when I got my acceptance letter. He'd never been to a game until my freshman year, he said he felt like he just didn't "belong". He hasn't missed a home game since.

I don't mind t-shirt fans, an education gives me enough benefit on it's own, I don't need to belong to an exclusive club of fans.

the only thing worse are the people who claim to hate a team that their team never plays. You know the type, the people who name a school that their school never plays as a 'rival', and thus has several of their fans obsessed with the other program, whom they, it must be reiterated, haven't played in decades and then, have only played a grand total of twice...

Oh dam , I never played for the Saints does this mean I cant cheer for them anymore. you actually think 92000 people in Tiger stadium graduated LSU? They had to graduate too , no LSU flunkies EITHER. Thier your state team dammit, if you like the Tigers ,dam right you can be a fan,you sure pay taxes that go to LSU , thats more than enough reason for me.

Dude, it's been said numerous times that cheering for your state is cool.

My post was more an attack on the bandwagon fans of college sports which I find 1,000X more obnoxious than pro sport bandwagon fans.

I was just fired up after listening to my lame arse friend talk about how Duke "did it!" and he admitted this was the first Duke game he watched all year.

This is the same friend whose favorite team was the Bulls, and then when they sucked he was a die hard Lakers fan.

If you have some connection to the college (used to live in the state, parents went there, siblings went there, etc) then it's cool to be a fan.

But when some dude from Mississippi is a die hard USC fan only because they are good, then that shite is ghey.

I hate people who are fans of zombies, especially when they have never been a zombie themselves, or could name a zombie in real life

now stop being a douche

I don't think that applies to cheering for a team only because they are winning.

I blame my friend for my extreme dislike of bandwagon fandom. He has favorite teams in sports he never even follows.
NFL - Saints (only legit team since he is from Nola)
NBA - Lakers, Hornets (in that order)
College - LSU, Duke, North Carolina, Miami
MLB - Yankees, Red Sox
NHL - Penguins
Golf - Tiger Woods.

He only cheers on winners, mainly because he never made a team before or ever won at anything. And all he says to me is "Some people only follow winners." All smug like.

I just don't get it. But that's just me. People can follow who they want, just don't come bragging to me that "your" team just won the championship when you have zero connection to them (other than you think their uniforms are cool)

I'm with you--I never went to LSU, but have always been a fan--when they were bad and when they are good. I cant stand the bandwagon fans, ones that went to LSU and the ones that didnt
