I am a diehard LSU fan, probablly know more about LSU then half the people that actually go there, but will attend KU in the fall. Does that make me less of an LSU fan because im not going to school there? People like me make your argument stupid. People who are bandwagon fans of any college are lame as frick.

so you're saying you're not allowed to root for a college team until you are 18/19 years of age?

exactly

more along the lines of: "We did it Duke!!!11!!1" and that person has no tie to Duke, North Carolina, or any type of devils, let alone blue ones

This is the dumbest logic I've EVER read.

I grew up ALL things LSU for 18 years, my entire life.

But I got a schollie to another school, not LSU, so you're saying I should have cut all ties to LSU and became a die hard Nicholls St fan?

EPIC FAIL my friend.

For me I remember watching Hill, Laettner and Hurley when I was six or seven and just liked them. Got the ever so cool starter jacket I'd wear everywhere. I suppose I am lame as frick.

What about a totally unrelated fandom of the Ravens? (even if I always have been and will always be a college-sports Gamecock fan 1st)

I understand what you're trying to say. Everyone was suddenly a Duke fan because they made it to the Final 4, but probably know nothing about the team. I do hate those types of fans.. but I follow the Ravens from beginning to end of the season.. no playoffs or super bowl win. Yet I have no reasonable connection to the team.

Is that unacceptable?

this was what i was trying to focus on

the college bandwagon fans which may be more annoying than the pro bandwagon fans

Yeah to me the connection doesn't really matter as long as you are as big of a fan to a school or team through the best and worst of times.

Damnit, I never played for the Braves. Guess I gotta root for the local little league team now.

Obviously, there is a clear distinction between college and pro teams. But supporting college teams just because they are perennial powers is lame as frick. Most grow out of that shite after middle school.

College sports are viewed like professional sports.

I don't understand why some people get so upset about people who root for a school other than their alma mater.

Duke basketball is the same as Boston Celtics basketball.

Florida football is the same as New England Patriot football.

This isn't high school.

I think you mean "frontrunner" fans. No consistent team they root for, just whoever is good at the time.

The main reason for this is obvious, it is more enjoyable to watch a game when you have some sort of emotional investment. You pick a team to cheer for and you cheer for them to make game more interesting. I think those people aren't necessarily bandwagoners.

They are tools like the grown men who sport UNC shirts in their 20s.
