It's amazing they don't get that they're making it worse.

Too bad they weren't as vigilant about protecting young boys.

This is starting to become reality. It's very weird.

it's like that whole community is separated from society. it's quite unsettling.

I won't feel sorry for any downfall that ensues as a result of this scandal to any of these idiots. This type of behavior seems to be commonplace around Happy Valley.

Most of those tards are only doing it because their friends are doing it. They're clueless as to what's going on and have no conception of the implications of their actions.

Just supports the argument that the program needs to be put down. There are acceptable societal norms - institutional pedophilia, concealment, denial, etc. don't qualify as acceptable behavior. As the students mature and have their own kids some are bound to reflect on this mess and realize just how stupid they were at the time.

it would be easy to take down that statue. simply wait for the students to leave, deal with any guards (can do w/o violence) and take the sob down. all talk if you ask me.

Multiple page thread/post topic on the PSU board today:

quote:

If Penn State decides to take down the statue of Joe I am DONE

with Penn State.

I've been a fan of the football team since I was about ten years old. I graduated in 1990 with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology.

It's not about whether Joe wanted the statue, I'm sure he probably wasn't too fond of the idea. It's not about "choosing" JoePa over my alma mater as some would try to pose the issue. Not at all.

It's about a man who devoted his life to a University. To building young boys into men. To teaching life lessons. A man who gave millions of dollars back to the school.

A man who, whether the BOT likes it or not, made the University, what it is today, not just the football program.

And after 60 years of service the BOT and school has led him to slaughter like a sacrificial lamb. And on the basis of what? A rush to judgment on incomplete information. A "report" that makes far reaching conclusions from spurious, circumstantial "evidence".

And for what? To appease the salacious mass media lynch mob that is most interested in ratings and 15 second sound bites. Not the complex truth.

If they do this. I am finished with Penn State Forever.

Who is with me?

the idea that there are people still holding a vigil at the Paterno statue (for anything other than the child victims at least) is the best argument I've seen for the Death Penalty
