If not, why are they held responsible when they are trying to get passed that era?

This is the question that matters. If the answer is no, then why punish those who had nothing to do with it? If the answer is yes, then that changes things, but as far as I know those responsible have been dealt with.

This has always been my stance on the situation. If there is someone involved, let the police handle it.

They have a fanbase that excuses and still idolizes Joe Pa. And Franklin's background at Vandy isn't very clean either. That's enough for me.
Bama has a fricking psychotic fanbase where one of their own killed a former Bama fan after the Kick Six for not being upset enough. I guess the actions of the fans say lets hammer Bama!

In other words, it doesn't fricking matter what the fans do. They're fans.

As for Franklin, where the hell are you getting that?

Note: It's not that I'm excusing what happened at PSU, just pointing out the extreme flaw of this logic.

This is irrelevant. Anyway, give us da deets on him at Vandy, if you´d be so kind.

i say punish them forever until the fans stop worshipping joe paterno. That guy was the scumbag of all scumbags and they still think he did nothing wrong bc he didnt physically rape kids. Ped state will always be ped state till they start owning up to joe being a pos

Then lets punish every program with psychotic fans. I've seen fans of [insert SEC team here] defend a player/former player caught up in some kind of criminal activity before.
The fans do NOT matter in deciding something like this.

Again, who gives a shite about the fans' opinions? Let them think what they want.

See above.

we're not talking a player, we're talking the most famous man in the programs history and he didn't just commit a crime, he knew children were being raped for DECADES and he did nothing about it. That is the definition of a piece of trash to the highest order

Theres nothing flawed about my own damn reasoning for rooting against a football team.

Here's a link regarding the Vandy episode for those who don't follow the news.

Well, that's actually a valid point probably

Hmm. Yeah, that doesn't look good. That said, what he did at Vandy shouldn't carry over to PSU in some form of punishment. That's my main point with that.

I'm not debating that.
The problem is you're trying to use the actions of fans as a reason to hammer a football program. If such a thing happened, get ready for every major name program, including any major you go for to get destroyed by the NCAA. Obviously that won't.

I don't get how anyone could be a pedo state fan. I wouldn't be an LSU fan if we were raping kids for years

i do not believe the fanbase is the reason why they should have been hammered. however, allowing kid rape to happen and looking the other way absolutely is lack of institutional control and the NCAA was absolutely within its right to levy sanctions on penn state

Rioted over his firing and statue removal, celebrate him this year. It's a disgusting fanbase. i can look the other way on a lot of shite when it comes to winning by child fricking isn't one. I don't get how they have people that wear pedo state stuff out

bingo. annd even then, i would be willing to move on right now if the fanbase, and the school, would do everything they could to distance themselves to JoPa. they dont. they celebrate him. so frick them

Ol' dabigfella disagrees apparently

The answer to that question depends on if the current admin looked the other way. If those responsible have been dealt with, then it's done. No need to hammer those who had nothing to do with it.

All of the people responsible for what happened are gone. Don't keep punishing the kids for the actions of despicable men.
