he said he'd play for $20m, the uproar from the union would be huge. Everything else is just vary degrees of the same.
Exactly. Brees has been even more involved in labor talks than Brady in the past. These guys aren’t just gonna play for 25 percent of market value to grab an extra ring. There would be a massive backlash on them from their peers for basically fricking the market.

Technically, Brady is not allowed to sign a new deal with New England until free agency begins next month...

Raiders are poised to pursue quarterback Tom Brady if he doesn't re-sign with the Patriots before free agency begins, league sources told ESPN.

Probably talking about the legal tampering period

So apparently it's they are willing to pay it, but Tom will take less if they get some talent at the WR position.
Last year was bad luck and a bad right now wr draft pick. Brown and Gordon flamed out, and every single WR on the roster is a slot guy. Harry will be an elite slot guy, but he is mediocre as hell at the outside positions. Edelman is an elite slot guy, but he had a torn shoulder and broken ribs. They thought Sanu could play on the outside, but he again couldn't create separation. The others are just a guys, and the te position has an old arse guy who tore his Achilles.

I bet Brady is looking to be the highest player in the league. And I don't blame him.
I would be shocked.

Brady has been taking less than market value for over a decade. It’s his career not everyone’s else. Hell if anything, he’s helped his teammates by taking less.
Plus this isn’t anything new. Guys have been taking discounts every offseason since free agency started in the NFL, whether it’s been for ring chasing, hometown/drafting team, scheme fit, or some combination of them.
This notion that a 43 year old quarterback taking ONLY $20 million salary when he’s earned well over $300 million in his career between salary and endorsements somehow damages the player’s unions and hurts other players’ salary is asinine and is very indicative of the lack of intelligence by those expressing that ignorant viewpoint.

Two things are stupid here. The Pats willing to pay Brady $30 mil. Plus the idea of him going to the Raiders. Both are stupid.....

What are your sources telling you?

Why the hell would the raiders pursue Brady? Dude's getting too old and his arm can't keep up. They've done a decent job of getting good, young talent. Don't get an old QB who can't throw the ball downfield.

It depends on if his elbow healed up. He was fine with arm strength until that happened, and launched some frozen ropes on the playoffs. It's tough to go deep when you literally have no deep threats.
