Sad situation in Monroe.
Had a similar situation happen to me when I was in HS... Terrible experience for everyone in involved.
Thoughts and Prayers go out to the family, school and community this Sunday am.
And other family involved.

UPDATE 8:15 p.m. -- Officers with Louisiana State Police Troop F are now providing more details into a two-vehicle fatal crash that happened on Louisiana Highway 594 east of U.S. Highway 165. The crash killed two people, one of them being a Ouachita Parish High School football player. KTVE/KARD has confirmed that 17-year-old Dillon Neal, a Junior defensive end, was killed in the crash. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2004 Cadillac Escalade, driven by 63-year-old Howard Coleman of Monroe was traveling west on 594 when his vehicle crossed the center line and struck a 2008 Honda Accord, driven by Neal, head-on. Troopers said Coleman was not properly restrained while Neal was wearing his seatbelt. Coleman and Neal suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene by the Ouachita Parish Coroner's Office. The passenger in the Accord was transported to St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe with serious injuries. Troopers were unable to determine if the passenger was properly restrained. Alcohol use is not suspected at this time. Toxicology samples were taken and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. Troopers of Troop F said they have investigated 35 fatal crashes which have resulted in 40 deaths so far this year. ------------------------------------------------ MONROE -- KTVE/KARD has learned authorities are working a fatal accident in Monroe Saturday evening.
