You're clearly not adjusted. Even that being true has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not he is having the best season.
LeBron was the best player in the NBA for ages and didn't win MVP most years. Smith might be the best WR in CFB, but if he's not having the best season, which he's not, he shouldn't be winning the awards/favored
He can easily catch fire and by the end have the best season, but as of now, he isn't and the OP's point is very valid comparing him to MHJ. He's favored now based on hype, not what he's done this year.

winning the awards and being favored are 2 different things. If a bunch of people want to bet him to win are the books supposed to say “no we can’t lower his odds, he’s not having the best season and therefore can’t be “favored”
