The home opener (and maybe series) is sold out against the defending National Champions Fresno State (damn that sounds weird).

The stadium is being built in two phases over two years so they got the field down (it is all field turf, including the infield ) and scoreboard and such and just have some bleachers set up around the outset. They will get the permanent structure built starting in May and it should be pretty awesome from the looks of it.

I hate this. Tulane did it and it looks like crap. Baseball played outdoors should be played on REAL grass.

I also like how they seat the fans about 50 feet above the playing field

They are building the actual stadium in the next off-season. They are sharing it with a new minor league team who won't be starting until next year from my understanding. They got the field, lights and foundation down. Put the temp bleachers in for this year and will build the real stadium this off season.

Still doesn't explain the bleachers being that high up though

I agree. My high school's field condition was by far the best in the state and better than most spring training fields in AZ. The Oakland A's spring training PRACTICE fields (5 or 6 of them) were my favorite to play on... just perfect. The infield was almost like a putting green.

So an all turf field sounds pretty awful to me haha. But I would say the time and money saves from maintaining it through the winter would probably be worth it... but there are nice high school field in Oregon so if they can do it, why not Oregon.

April 24, 2009 6-11-1 SEC record says differently. A lot of people may end up being disappointed this year. The last 3rd of the season was pretty flukish.
