Serious question... Is there anyone here who thinks people say and do things differently when they are in the privacy of their close friends/family? Or is everyone exactly the same person in front of the camera/ associates?

I listened to the audio and what he said didn't seem that bad. He didn't use any racial slurs and said he loved black people. It seems that his family and the culture he is from is still racist and he gets a lot of heat from them and thats why he didn't want his GF to post pics with other races on social media because it always ends up back at him.

The whole situation is kind of odd though bc he is dating a woman who is half black

He's a 80 year old billionaire. You think his mommy and daddy are calling him up every night to chastise him if he got too close to a brown person?

I my be a little late to the conversation, but oh well. my problem is nobody should be free to say whatever they want without any repercussion. What if a player said those exact words, he would be immediately called a tpos racist and deserves to be kicked out of the league. I don't think even as the owner that you should be able to do and say whatever you please without any type of checks or balances

I didn't realize his family and culture was limited to just his mom and dad?

He's 80. He's the patriarch of his family at this point. You really think they're telling him what to do?
A "I'll look bad to the other old rich white guys I know" defense doesn't holdup well either.

Hey man idk how his life is or where he was born or how he thinks. But in the recording he is obviously worried about what other people think and about people constantly calling him bitching about how his GF takes pictures with black people.

He obviously cares about what someone thinks and wishes to hide his connection to blacks because of it.

And that's pretty pathetic and shameful.

who knows. remember, this is part of a pattern w/ the guy -- Elgin Baylor's lawsuit, the housing discrimination lawsuit, etc.

i think it's fair to say (and maybe it's been mentioned earlier), the NBA has wanted to get rid of him for decades regardless of the racism that's come to light over the past few years, simply for mismanaging a franchise.

I think a bunch of people know how they should publicly respond. I think few people are genuinely offended.

I know I'm not. I know what he said was dumb, but it doesn't bother me in the slightest. Fair or not, if you're his age, I actually assume you're going to be a bit racist.

That's not going to work. You've got 29 other club owners and a brand new commissioner. This is a huge PR hit, and it'll be even worse if they slap him on the wrist. The NBA isn't invisible. A lot of people left baseball because of steroids.

he sounded like a deranged old guy that is dating a hot 20 year old. obviously he is jealous and trying to use any excuse to keep her away from other dudes. I am sure he knows she is fricking everyone and taking his money.his dick dont work so the only weapon he has is threatening to leave her(cut her off from his money) and make her feel 2nd class because she is a minority.
