Im sorry, I didnt mention in my first post that the 1 mulligan per 9 takes the place of a warm up for us. We do not hit the range before we go out.

Play how you wanna play, but how is this not cheating?

It is.

Same here...If I'm just out there with some friends, I'm not going to break a club on a tree or hit a shot where I could hurt myself. Other than that I play the ball down and always putt out.

Two tee shots off of #1 if the driving range wasn't open.
Don't have to putt if it's inside the leather.

Other than that, by the book.

I think a lot of golfers give many of the short putts to speed up the pace of play.

I can see the logic in that. If you're lining up a 1 foot putt while the people behind you are waiting it can be irritating. But not counting penalty strokes has nothing to do with the speed of play. Same goes for foot wedges.

Actually, I've got a special club for that. It's an old 'texas chipper' I got used for 15 bucks. It's like a left handed putter with a 2-iron incline. When a ball is not playable right handed against a tree I can hit it 100 yards left handed.

Especially if you have a money game going, and your partner is putting for a reasonably makeable birdie, and you miss a par putt. I don't see any reason to take your time and line up a 3 footer for bogey.

I have a hard time bumping the ball even when the rules allow it.

I would assume that you play on the LSU golf team. Therefore you are better than 99% of the rest of the world. People want to enjoy themselves on the course, so based off of their level of play, some may take a few "liberties" such as mulligans, putts inside the leather, and fluffing the ball.

Many people enjoy playing slow pitch softball because it's fun for them, and now that their playing days are over they can still play the game of baseball/softball. What if these guys were facing the same factors as pro baseball? 95 mph fastballs, unhittable curveballs, and split-fingers. People wouldn't enjoy striking out every time. So as it relates to golf, many will bump a ball in the fairway and not hit it off of a divot, or they will foot wedge a ball off of hardpan and onto grass because Webb Park is not exactly Augusta National.

Very few people play by every rule in the book, everybody is different. If you're serious play by the rules, if you are out there to have fun don't worry.

So both you and your father are better than me.

If you can shoot 75, you will beat me right now.

Well, I can do it with 2 off of the first tee and a "scorecard relief" in the fairway. Even then, it would be one of my best rounds ever. So even if you're off, your going to beat me if we're playing it down.

Got a few friends playing in that. I heard that Santa Maria is in great shape, but they've shrunk the fairways, and the ball really sits down in the rough. If they have the tees back on most holes, it will play very tough. It looks like it did.

When I start shooting in the 70s I'll quit "cheating" so I can see what kind of a player I am or what I can become. Until then, I'm only focused on hitting good shots and enjoying myself.

All the game is about my friend.
