Classic espn now. Expected them to have an ode to Ohtani on the sports center top 10 and just give him the 1 spot. Nope.

Someone in the 70s threw a no hitter and had 3 HR in a game. Thats the best baseball performance eve, but this is llikely next

It was 2 HR in a regular season game (Rick Wise). But from a flair point of view NLCS clincher + 100 MPH fast ball + launch a ball clear out of Dodger Stadium elevates Shohei a bit.

I didn’t see both of Wise’s home runs in the highlights available now but the first one was of the “pitcher got lucky and got a hold of one and parked it in the first row” variety.

He had one great game in a four game series. That doesn't deserve him the series MVP

Did I say it did?

What he did yesterday is in the books. Love it or hate it.

Show me on the doll where Ohtani touched you.

Yamamoto should have won it because he's a pitcher (Ohtani had plenty of opportunities on both ends) and threw a complete game shutout. But Teoscar if you want a hitter

Yamamoto did something in the MLB Postseason has done since 2017.

Ohtani gets a hundred chances and bats 0.075 then decides to hit two HRs. Big deal

This is quite possibly true, but it still doesn’t contradict that Game 4 was an insane performance, and given the context, it’s going to be very hard to come up with a comparable one in the 100+ year history of the modern game.

I know you're obviously trolling but Yamamoto was a 1-run CG.

Ohtani did something in the MLB Postseason that hasn’t been done since Christ was born

I'm imagining his stats and what he did.... wow, he hit for the cycle! A no hitter! And a walkoff grand slam. Cool! Great post.

Best individual performance of all time, and it isn’t close. Is there a way to calculate game WAR?

Considering none of the starters pitched more than once, roki had one bad outing, and the entire offense was meh for the series, ohtani was an easy choice.

i really wish i could like baseball, and get into it, but i just can't... tried MULTIPLE times, and it's just as slow, plodding and boring each and every single time...

props to Ohtani for whatever it was he did that everyone thinks is so great

I'd say statistically, a no hitter plus 2 hr is more impressive than 6 one hit innings plus 3 (solo) hr.....

However, factoring in the nlcs clincher, lead off hr, and blast out of dodger stadium, shohei yields a wow factor that's unmatched

In a blind taste test, I agree.

The fact ohtani starting the game striking out the side and then leading off the bottom of the first with a HR. In a playoff game. That’s a travel ball fantasy, not an mlb reality.
