Dantonio at MSU, and before he just signed his contract extension Bob Stoops. Really I don't know of anybody else on the radar.

ETA: It will definitely be somebody with OSU or at least Ohio ties.

yeah still plenty of time until next year, I was up in Ohio visiting friends last month, I really feel for your program and the tough time y'all are facing but you will pull it out, you have an incredible fanbase and any coach would be honored to take that job.

If Meyer doesn't take it, I think it'll be Pelini.

You don't like his press conferences???? wtf guys

Q. Luke, you had a chance to look at the tape obviously. A lot of difficulty throwing the football on Saturday. Will your plan be similar?
COACH FICKELL: We don't know what the plan is just yet.

Read the transcipt of his presser after the Miami game. Read his midweek transcript which included the gem above. Read his explanation about not using timeouts at the end of the game? Read how he said that Bollman pulled Miller after the fumble and Bollman made the decision on who played what series at quarterback.

We don't know what the plan is? WTF!!

The head coach is responsible for everything that happens on the field. If he's allowing assistants to make decisions like what quarterback plays and when then yes I have a problem with his decision making.

I'd love to see him succeed and go on to a long career at Ohio State but he needs to grow into the job fast starting this week. Period.

I don't know why, but if we don't keep Fickell, I wouldn't mind landing Gruden.

True but there's probably a very short list of schools Gruden would consider and if he had such a list Ohio State would have a good chance of being on it. A better chance than say 95%.

I think gruden loves his job and isnt going anywhere. I also think tOSU is going to keep Fickle, or at least i think they should

I agree on the first and on the second provided he and the team improve.

Have a great wedding and honeymoon. When the honeymoon is over and she cuts you off just file the papers and save yourself 25+ more years of agaony.

Im not a Buckeye fan but i think he has done a great job in a really tough situation.

I think he needs to play Miller even if they have a rough year so he will be ready to help this team win the Big 10/12/14 whatever is now in the years to come

Don't get me wrong. I like Fickell and want him to succeed. He needs to exhibit the leadership needed to run the program. I think the character and work ethic is there.

Starting and sticking with one quarterback (I want Miller) is a good beginning.

Ken Gordon (former OSU beat writer) had an interesting perspective on that before the press conference:

quote:

I'm guessing Fickell will not commit to a starter today, mainly because it serves no purpose except to save him more grief from fans.

I agree with that. What purpose does it serve? To let Colorado start trying to gameplan for him more than Bauserman? Make fans happy? As far as Bollman, it's obvious that he's relying heavily on Bollman for his experience, which I think is a mistake, but he's a first year defensive oriented coach. That's why I say he needs a different OC badly. I hope last week taught him that he can delegate shite but ultimately his arse is getting grilled, not Bollman.

What did Coop say, something like "If you start listening to the fans you'll end up sitting with them"?

I agree, Miller needs at least 75% of snaps

I think fickle deserves more than a 1 year shot (considering the situation) after all he has put in to make the program where it is over the last 10 years ( or however long hes been there)

I would LOVE Saban, much more than Meyer, but that's a pipe dream IMO. He has a great team, great fans, great facilities, great tradition, etc....no reason to make a lateral career move.

First off, I think Fick learns fast enough to turn it around and keep his job. But if not, his replacement will be a dark horse. How about Skip Holtz or Tim Beckman?
