If OSU made a field goal in 2022 this entire thread is dead and gone.

You let Georgia have their way with you for an entire 4th quarter. And Georgia was a purely meat and potatoes O. Why can't Ryan Day's teams put a defense on the field? Or come up big in big moments?

OSU literally was without

Tre Henderson
Miyan WIlliams
JSN
Harrison Jr.
Stover

In the 4th quarter of that game. Bama fans complain when they were without 2 WRS against UGA, try your top 2 WRs, your top 2 RBs and your top TE.

No team would have been able to move the ball against that UGA team without 5/6 of their top offensive skill positions. When you give a good team opportunities because you have a ton of bad luck injuries, they are going to take advantage.

You are being a troll

Ryan Day coached his arse off in that game. Not his fault their kicker sucked balls.

I actually thought that was Day’s best game as a HC.

Objectively, he’s currently a B/B plus level coach. He needs to become an A

He was great in the two Clemson games as well. The Michigan game came down to a last possession last year so I don't really get the "dominated for 3 years" line. Two yes but last years game was a crapshoot.

Cool. Is Ryan Day still HC? If so this will be another #1 class without a national title

Ask Texas A&M of recent years how much recruiting class rankings matter

Completely opposite set of dynamics at play with OSU.

And they already have the #1 player in the Nation in the 2026 Class.

I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve.

274 2025 Team Rankings

It would be cheaper to pay the refs. Besides, recruits aren't stupid, they will do just enough for the money and then transfer to Kentucky.

Does he really though? Ed O and Miles won national titles. Are they A level coaches? What about Mack Brown? Gus?

I think Day has done a pretty good job of changing who he is almost annually as he evolves. His first HC job.

In 2019 he made a great DC coaching hire and had one of the best teams in the country. It just so happened 2019 LSU and 2019 Clemson were pretty damn good too.

2020 his DC left after one year, and he hired a "retread" in a way with a guy who OSU loved as a CB coach. He failed pretty badly and that went through 2021. Hired a new DC in 2022 and that has been a resounding success the last couple of years.

This year he is stepping back from play calling and brought in Chip Kelly to run the offense. If what Chip says is true, he hated the other stuff he had to do as HC and loves just coaching football. We will see if there is an ego issue with Kelly being older than Day and Day potentially overriding Kelly in big moments.

Outside of 2019, OSU hasn't had "both sides of the ball" to win a title. 2020-2022 defense was an issue, 2023 the offense just wasn't quite there. 2024 should be a really good year for OSU and I'm excited to see if they can get it done
