How so?
Ask any NFL player what is more important, having the best stats in a season/post-season or winning the Super Bowl. Tom Brady could throw 6 INTS in the Super Bowl, if he won he wouldn't care. In contrast he could throw 6TD's and lose and he would be pissed.

Correct, but a lot of picks usually lead to more losses. So less picks can theoretically lessen the amount of losses. Sure, it's not the only factor, but it is one of them.
