The only tools he graded out as average is power and speed

A 40 grade is well below average.
ETA: For example, the top prospect from earlier this year in ALL OF BASEBALL, Cory Seager, grades a 40 and 45 on 2/5 attributes. It is amazing how much rutard this Tebow thing has brought out

You dont know shite That is a solid grade withing the standard deviation of Major League players
You're the one who doesn't know shite about baseball. Here's what Keith Law, an actual former professional scout said about the 20-80 grade scale.
quote:
"I use the 20-80 grading scale in these comments to avoid saying "average" and "above average" thousands of times across the 100 player comments. On that scale, a grade of 50 equals major league average, 55 is above average, 60 is plus, 45 is fringy or below average and so on."

I'd be willing to bet this is the case or close to it. Not every player is Mike Trout. Nobody is saying Tebow would be a perennial all star or mvp candidate. There are tons of players in the majors that are fringe guys.

Yes, a good number of MLB players have tools with a 40 grade because a lot of them have gasp areas of the game that they aren't great at. None of them are perfect except for maybe Mike Trout. Scouts graded Tebow as a 40 Arm, 40 Fielding and 35 Hit tool. So he has below average hitting ability, below average arm and below average fielding skills. What is he good at?

You're aware that Tebow hasn't played competitive baseball in over a decade, right? It doesn't seem like you are.

These are likely future grades, not current.

Scout breaks down Tebow's workout (Time for a lot of crow eating)

What do you think about his swing?
What about his tools and overall potential?
What position do you think he'll wind up at?
How long do you think he might require in the minors before he's near big-league ready -- if he'll ever be big-league ready
Based on everything we know, if you're a scout, are you recommending your team pursue him?
LINK
What do you think about his swing?
quote:
I think there are things to like about the swing, and a lot of things to cause concern. There's obvious bat speed, and the loft in the swing along with his ridiculous strength gives him a chance for plus-plus power. The question is, can he tap into that power? There are a lot of moving, awkward parts to his swing, and big velocity and quality secondary offerings are going to give him trouble without some serious cleanup. Have we seen guys with worse swings play in the big leagues? Yes. Did those players max out at their other respective tools? Certainly.
What about his tools and overall potential?
quote:
So basically there's one plus-plus tool (power), one well below-average tool (hit) and everything else looks to be 40-50 grade.
What position do you think he'll wind up at?
quote:
Left field or first base. The arm isn't strong enough to handle a traditional right, he's not athletic enough for center, and being left-handed takes away everything else. I'd guess he's in left.
How long do you think he might require in the minors before he's near big-league ready -- if he'll ever be big-league ready
quote:
At least a couple of years, unless a team believes he can come up and just be a power weapon off the bench and they don't care about developing everything else. Baseball is a really difficult game, and it will takes at least a couple of years for Tebow to get the repetitions necessary to get rid of the bad habits along with acquiring some semblance of pitch recognition. If a team does sign him, I'd be surprised if you saw him in a big league uniform before the end of 2017, maybe even 2018.
Based on everything we know, if you're a scout, are you recommending your team pursue him?
quote:
I think I would. I just don't see the harm in giving it a shot. For Tebow to look as "good" as he did in the workout with that much time away from the game is really impressive, and if you really believe in your player-development staff, this is the kind of athlete who can help a big-league club. There will undoubtedly be clubs who just don't want the distraction, but if it was my decision, I'd be willing to give it a shot. The worst thing that happens is you release him if/when he shows he can't handle it. The reward is a guy who makes managers alter the way they manage their bullpen. The reward certainly outweighs the risk, in my humble estimation.

Based on those videos his arm didn't look impressive at all IMO... He's got good power cause he's a big, strong MFer, but it looks like his swing is really stiff.. I'd like to see him face some minor league pitching in a game, it'd be interesting for sure.. I'm sure ESPN would interrupt live broadcasting to show it too
he really needs to trim down, just seems way too stiff in basically all of the drills in that video. there's no need for him to be playing baseball at 255

He looks life a real life cartoon of the old 90s baseball graphics

for perspective, Mark McGwire weighed less than Tebow does right now. Roided out Bonds weighed 225

Ohhhh, and you conveniently leave out that whopping fricking 70 in the hit tool huh? Maybe that has something to do with it? Hmmmmm.

He's good at having the name Tim Tebow and hitting BP fastballs out of the park.

Six pages about this narcissistic douches' need for attention ploy. I hear his lispy speech yesterday. So now baseball is his "passion" after failing in football. So sad that the sports media ways this crap up.

One scout graded Tebow an 80 in power.
Go shave the neckbeard
