Ellsbury's contract jacked up the market. While someone could give it to him, I think he signs for 5/100.

I'd prefer Choo, honestly. But he's battled injuries as well.

Mariners sign Corey Hart and trade for LoMo. Like both of those moves, buying low on both. Marlins getting a nice bullpen arm in Carter Capps.

One of them will be playing the OF though, which is not good.

I don't know that the Mariners are all that sold on Smoak, nor should they be. But Jack Z did acquire Ibanez and Morse to start in LF all last season.

Mariners filling a desperate need that they had none of last year...a first baseman/outfield who should really be a DH because they can't field

Low risk inexpensive options. These are good moves and if they don't work out, it's not a big deal. It allows them to remain players in the market as well.

If nothing else, it makes Nelson Cruz less appealing to the Mariners. I would hope. Jack Z is dying to make another huge move, now that they have some power and there are huge holes in the OF I wouldn't be surprised to see them throw the bank at Choo.

1-year. Supposedly the Brewers were offering $8-million so I would guess 8-10?

ETA: $8-million potentially if he hit incentives.

I haven't read anywhere with an exact monetary value on the deal as of yet.

Source: Hart deal with #Mariners compares favorably to Napoli's first deal with #RedSox: $5M with chance to earn $13M through incentives.

Not bad, I figured he signed for 5-6 mil... which is a good deal considering he missed last season.

LoMo

The Mariners sure do love former highly rated prospects that can't hit in the majors.

Ackley, Smoak, Montero, LoMo

But one of those (and Zunino) could live up to the hype they could have a solid lineup
