Someone told me Acadiana's starting QB was out for the STM game. Is that true?

No, to my knowledge he wasn't out. Acadiana did have a few costly turnovers and penalties, but that is part of the game. STM is legit.

I haven't really commented on STM because I have absolutely no idea how they look. Haven't seen them once. Looking at scores they look pretty damn good though.

Solid defense, very balanced offense with multiple weapons, pretty big upfront on both lines, and probably one of the better coaching staffs in the state. Too bad they will have to move down to 4-A next year.

But as far as Acadiana, i don't see them losing to STM if we play them again. I could bring up how in 2006 Acadiana lost to sulphur 35-7 in the regular season only to beat the tors in the State championship game, but i'm not gonna do that

What happened to rummel this year? I haven't heard of a state finalist not making the playoffs the next year, was graduation that unkind to the raiders?

Rough season. Lost 9 of 11 starters on defense. Offense with no weapons. Seems like every break that went their way in 09' went against them this season. First time since 1995 not making the playoffs.

I love how people get mad at the rankings. Like someone looked at West Monroe and chose them to be the 4th seed in 5A.

Everyone knows West Monroe is the best team in 5A. The seeds, however, are chosen based on your own team's W's/L's and the teams that you play on your schedule's W's/L's.

People act like a group of guys get together on a Sunday afternoon, drink beer, and choose seedings based off of opinion.

IMO, it's a very good system and hope it stays the way it is.

You could do a combination of the two to avoid what you have in 5A this year. Everyone who has paid attention this year would pretty much agree that the top 4 seeds are ranked, in order, 4, 3, 2, and 1.

St. Aug certainly has a shot talent-wise, but they'll blow it and at best make it to the quarters imo.
St. Aug. has the physical talent, and execution to win it all. They don't have the attitude, though. They're very undisciplined, always looking for a fight, from the head coach, on down. He's a whiner, expects EVERY call, and argues, A LOT. Saw it against us (Brother Martin) they were up big against Rummel and he was complaining, as were his players, and then the altercation with Warren Easton.

Have fun with that place. Bring your "gat" just in case something would happen.

As bad a rap as that place gets...I've actually never had a problem going to a game at Hoss Memtas Stadium.

You can laugh, but if Paul Turner stays healthy it's true. WM won't have a game closer than 3 touchdowns if he stays healthy. Now if he goes down, it's anyone's title to take. Acadiana doesn't run the right offense to beat WM. You have to throw the ball with quick routes/screens to have a chance. WM isn't going to fumble the ball 8 times this year with Turner in the game. I think ESJ and STM have the best shot outside WM. I'll be in Lafayette this Friday and will go to the STM game. I'll have a better idea after watching that game.

Thought Acadiana was good this year. I was surprised to see the 27th seed.

They had to forfeit 4 games. They would be the 5th seed without those forfeits. Only lost 1 game on the field to STM.

Grew up not far from there and went to games as a kid. Now, we had two games there this year, and not a minute's trouble.

Totally agree.....and acadiana is going to be really good too. Acadiana is a 1 loss team without the vacated wins because of that ineligible kid.

I went there in '05 after Katrina to play Higgins in the playoffs. Wasn't a pretty site.

Who will challenge Dutchtown before the semis (WM)?

Carencro usually has a pretty good team. What's the word on them this year?

I think Ouachita will make the final 4, it would be great to have them in the finals against WM, and make it an all north louisiana final like it should be. It wouldnt surprise me, they are very good - had one bad game against WM, but even with a good game they'd still lost.

Dutchtown is probably the most vulnerable of the final four, but I don't see a sleeper in their bracket of 8.

Brother Martin could easily play WM in the semifinals.

I really don't see Ouachita getting by St. Aug.
