this documentary has pretty much sucked

of course it did, there is no story, much less a 2 hour one. The only possible interesting thing that could have been done was talking to Bartman, which how interesting would that have been really.

Quit whining it was a very good 30 for 30. They brought new information and showed how Cubs fans and Boston fans use a scapegoat for everything. I thought it was done very well. It
Could have been a littler shorter

I thought Karros came away looking good too. He didnt blame it on Bartman or some stupid premise that Chicago is cursed, he just knew they got beat because of an error and the fact that the wheels fell off by giving up 8 runs.

In conclusion, the media should have showed replays of Bob Stanley's wild pitch and Alex Gonzalez's error instead. Those plays had more direct impact on the outcome of the games than Buckner or Bartman. If Buckner makes the play the game is still tied, and they go to extra innings. If Gonzalez makes the play the Cubs go to the 9th inning with the lead. And in both scenarios this happened in Game 6; there was still a game 7 to play. Both the Red Sox and Cubs had the lead at some point in game 7.

But nevermind all that, the media can create a bigger frenzy by making Bartman and Buckner a scapegoat. If Alou just goes back to left field instead of being a whiny bitch and staring a hole through Bartman, and the media moves on to the next play instead of focusing on Bartman - none of this happens. As usual, a multitude of mindless numbnut fans fell for it hook line and sinker.

this story exposes Chicago sports fans for the dickholes that are only surpassed by Philly fans

so man in the documentary still seemed to have a loathing for Steve Bartman to this day. A Bartman "Get Over It" gif would be great

new information? like what? They had to sneak Bartman out the stadium? I'm so glad after 8 years I've now "learned" this.

Fans use scapegoats? get out of here, never knew that

that bucker played for the 84 Cubs and his replacement had a ball go through his legs at a critical moment that arguably cost the Cubs a trip to the World Series

mainly just interviews with people around him, and the security guards talking about what they did after the incident

i really wasn't a fan of this one. it was kind of boring to me. real repetitive.

i think the producer green-lighted the project thinking that he could get Bartman to talk

the whole thing became a turd in the punchbowl when that didnt happen, and he/ESPN were stuck holding the bag

If you're expecting an expose of the 2003 NLCS, you'll be disappointed. but the best 30 for 30's have been about more than sports. This one looks at fan and media culture and our need to scapegoat and bring it to one variable, even if that wasn't the only thing. I liked it because it was about the sociology of fandom.

But if you want another "The U" fan video, you'll be disappointed.

And I do amend my previous statements, Eric Karros also comes off well. Alou and Baker come off horribly, and Prior not so well. They threw the fan under the bus, and essentially ruined the guy's life.

well they caught Prior and Baker in that moment. i think they should have gotten to opportunity to discuss it in the piece.

the FOX producer appeared quite remorseful

Bartman's job was not to get out of the way. Alex Gonzalez's job was to turn a routine double play that makes the score 3-1 going to Bot. 8th.

But did it take a two hour doc to explain that fans for the most part act irrationally especially in the heat of the moment? I think anyone who has ever been to a sporting event, read an "in game thread" or been a fan already understood this concept. Like others have stated, without access to Bartman this 30 for 30 was pretty much worthless.

the fact that Bartman still wont come public could speak volumes about Cubs fans
