his circuit experience is pretty limited..i think he's played about 5-10 $300 or bigger live donk fests..i would be very hesitant about his live play, but he did final table the last two tourneys he played at the circuit in biloxi(the beau)...so that gave me alittle more confidence in him...
I didn't think i'd ever seen him around but I wasn't sure. The warm ups in Biloxi were good for him to get some live tourney experience. Online guys can be a huge pain in the arse for live players in tournaments especially this one. It's also good that he final tabled the two in Biloxi cause you need confidence in this thing to keep your spirits up. He is absolutely right about this tournament being the most mentally gruling test of most players lives. Even for guys who live at the cash game tables, this tournament is much harder mentally than long sessions with live money. It's good that the directors made the decision to give everyone the day in between breaks they have for the first three days.

i compare the tourneys on the circuit to a $10 tourney on stars..maybe even lower..fwiw
I think they are actually worse. I like how the year I decide to focus more on cash games and less on live tournaments they up the starting chips in basically every event in both WSOP/WPT circuit events and the ME, as well as make the structures more player friendly. For a while the only tournaments I was playing were at Coushatta whenever they had 1 and 2k buyins cause their strusture was so much better than a WSOP or WPT. id go to whatever site was hosting and just play cash. My first 2 years in Vegas when you bought into a 1500 you got 1500 chips. You want to talk about a crap shoot. Last year was the first time they gave you a little more, now they are giving you 3 times the amount. I don't know what took them so long especially considering the Venetian and Cesars have been running their deep stack events for almost 5 years now.

he's right about the "aura" around him..it's weird standing in the same room as him..ive done it several times..and he's also a hell of alot bigger and taller than i expected..
That whas suprised me the first time I saw him. If you didn't know who he was he could easily be mistaken for a NBA guy.

-i agree with all of this...i played soooo many more live tourneys from the years of 2003 to 2007...i've been mostly a cash player(live) for the past few years..i wish they had that much play in these things back in our day for sure..

Then you pick up AA, raise, and everyone folds. Or better yet, you pick it up in the BB and they all fold around to you. That hurts almost as much as a bad beat sometimes, lol.
I hate it when that happens but also glad that I am winning a small pot rather than having the Roc Boyz cracked

I have friends who make their living off tournaments alone and I have no idea how they do it. I consider myself a pretty good tournament player but I don't think I could make a living only playing live tournaments at each event over the long haul. It's just to hard. I always tried to go into each event with the attitude I was going to give it my best shot, play to my strategy and enjoy the event.
When I play cash I am 100% there for the money and take it as serious as anyone would running their own business. I am biased but I firmly believe the Chip Reese approach to the game is the best way to make it your living. Play a ton of cash games, very few tournaments and know your limits.

Guy limps with AA and I call in the SB with 57. flop comes 6-8-2. he CHECKS i check. turn is a 9 he bets i raise he raises i'm all in he calls and boom, cracked aces.
if you're going to crack my aces you're going to pay to do so.

As the old saying goes, if you're going to limp in with AA, for gods sake DONT GO BUST with them

Yes, he's still in it. He made it to day 3 which starts tomorrow.
I also want to say that I have met Blanoix a few times and he is a very nice guy. Not nearly as cocky IRL as online.
Good Luck Blanoix!
