Getting Moncada and Kopech is a huge win for Chicago as well though

would love to see the rest of this package, moncada was the #1 prospect in all of baseball last winter and kopech is about a top 50 right now. really think the nats package looked better but idk

A package consisting of Moncada would be hard as hell for any front office to pass up.

i mean, giolito was a top 5 prospect and you get to replace an elite pitcher with an elite pitching prospect but who knows

I know the Sox have a lot of very young studs on their team already, but what does this trade do to their farm system? I know it was highly regarded before...just curious to see if they still have any big prospects

Isn't the big knock on Dombrowski exactly this? He empties the farm system to win now?

If I had to guess it's just organizational need. Like I don't know a fricking thing about the White Sox minor league system and where they're strong. Maybe their strong point is pitching and that made Moncada more attractive?

I'm just throwing a random idea out there, I don't know that, but I could see it being a possibility.

Benny boy is still there.

EDIT: But he may not be a prospect after he played significant time last year.

i wouldnt know as much as a sox fan but after this trade they still have devers to play third. after that its a bunch of people i dont know about. seems like their unimaginably insane group of minor league talent is just starting to leave the minors and they just sent away their last couple of pieces

fangraphs did an article on this after the trade to get pom and they actually argued that he isnt as crazy as people make him out to be

honestly i think people overvalue high end prospects which is a complete change from the previous century of undervaluing them

Red Sox had a very top heavy farm system and just traded away two of their top prospects. I wanna see the other two prospects before judging this trade.
