And when Tiger won the Masters for the 1st time, it was his 3rd time in the tournament. He tied for 41st and then missed the cut the first and second time he played. This was Spieths 1st time there. Finished 2nd.

Tiger's record in the majors is impressive (still second of all time), but Tiger's greatness was never purely about his performance in majors. It was consistency, tournaments won, cuts made, holding the lowest scoring average of all time, sitting atop the rankings week after week, month after month, for years. Some new rookie coming in and matching one or two of his accomplishments at or near the age Tiger accomplished them is a poor metric.

I'll leave this here. You probably didn't know about a lot of this. LINK

Well what about these people saying the tour is sooooooooo much harder now then back in the day. Woods won most if his majors " back in the day". What's that say for Spieth playing much harder competition at a younger age?

Yea I know all about that.

And im not the 1 saying Spieth is or isnt Tiger Woods. Im just saying its dumb to already say "hes no Tiger" or "hes not a closer" based off what he did at 20 years old in his 1st Masters appearance.

Dumb to even compare the 2 at this point.

I actually have no idea what you're talking about. Who says that the tour is harder than "back in the day"? And since when does the span of Tiger's professional career (96-present) qualify as back in the day.

To be fair, Tiger was an amateur his first 2 trips, his first major as a pro was Augusta in 97

KR/all, thanks for an enjoyable "The Masters" thread. See you all next week for The RBC Heritage at Harbour Town.

Congratulations, again, Bubba.

Played in 1996 as an amateur. First professional major in 1997 he won by 12 and set the scoring record. Tiger changed golf that day. Spieth is a great golfer but he is not in tiger's league.

He did change golf. Pace of play went from 3:30 at most courses to 4:30.
