ND has a great schedule this week with NC State and MSU ranked.

Clemson plays NC State and MSU plays Penn State Saturday

Nd may only have 1 top 25 win come Saturday night. This is why it is all way too early

Does this make you feel better about being 6th?

I'd love to see them make the playoff and have their brakes beaten in by the SEC champion LSU Tigers.

Feel?

In 2014, we were #16. In 2015, we were #3. In 2016, we were #6.

Win out, and we're in the playoff. Again.

Yeah, I "feel" pretty good about being #6.

What happens when the rest of the top 5 wins out

Yeah, probably so, but starting this thread as a Buckeye fan makes it seem like the OP is looking for validation.

That isn't a possibility.

Very similar to what happened to Mississippi State in 2014 when we had an impressive resume in early november with top wins against @LSU, and top 10 at the time Texas A&M and Auburn.

Nah it isn’t a validation thread it’s more a this is what’s wrong with the system thread. If MSU wins this week against Penn State it may actually be better for OSU and give them another top 25 win if they can win it.

Is ND any better/worse if 2 of their top 25 ‘wins’ lose this weekend? The answer should be no

OSU doesn't get in over ND.

Who knows. It's November 1.

Ohio State will be in the playoff if they win out, though.

Not necessarily. If NC State and MSU win the games they should, I don't think anything changes for ND. If they're upset, it's bad for ND, if they pull off an upset, it's good for ND.

The results of those games are relevant in a sport where there are so few head to head match ups among top teams.

No, but 4 of the top 5 can win out.

I'm not convinced that Ohio State controls their own destiny. Clemson has the trump card of defending champ and injured QB in their loss. Oklahoma has the head to head. ND will be interesting too.

That being said, 99% of the time it sorts itself out.

I agree, which is why I made the point. Everyone says their upcoming schedule is good, but Miami is a fraud and will probably be exposed this weekend by VT and then by ND and may fall all the way out of the top 25. Stanford visits WSU this weekend. If they lose, ND's quality wins going forward are gone too.

It's just so early to count top 25 wins because there is a whole month for the entire top 25 to change weekly

Edit: to my point, NC State, Miami, Stanford and MSU are all betting underdogs this weekend

Everyone is looking at how things look right now, not how things will look December 3rd.

I'm not entirely sure they will. If notre dame, Oklahoma, and Clemson all win out, they would be in over Ohio state. The problem comes with the Georgia vs Alabama sec championship, who knows if they'd drop the loser out of the top 4.
