Not likely. It will piss a lot of people off, I'm sure, but Ohio State will be one of the four if they win out.

I'm not entirely sure they will. If notre dame, Oklahoma, and Clemson all win out, they would be in over Ohio state. The problem comes with the Georgia vs Alabama sec championship, who knows if they'd drop the loser out of the top 4.
If Bama beats Georgia in a close game, Georgia will get in over ND and maybe ND gets in over Clemson or OU. If Georgia beats Bama, Georgia gets in and Bama goes to the Sugar

Edit: to my point, NC State, Miami, Stanford and MSU are all betting underdogs this weekend

Indeed
And if an upset happens, ND is not any better or worse, but their resume certainly improves. OPs logic goes both ways.

None of those games are locks for Penn State, VT, WSU, and Clemson

Nope. Not if OU wins out and ND wins out. Georgia/Bama already have one spot accounted for. If Clemson wins out they get in, period. If ND wins out they get in. If OU wins out they get in because they beat you in your house. So there is no room for the B1G or tOSU. Sorry.

They were pissed off in 2014, too.

People being pissed off is fun, but it doesn't change anything.

No one knows this at all. Clemson's schedule has what on it today? a home win over Auburn by a TD and a win over VT @ VT. Auburn is predicted to lose 2 more games (Bama/UGA), and could drop another. That is one quality win gone. VT plays @ miami this weekend. VT is a favorite so that game matters a lot for both Clemson and ND re: their schedules.

Clemson for example, if they beat NC State, has no one left who is ranked, and their schedule doesn't look good if Auburn losses a few more games. They could easily finish the season 12-1 with quality wins over VT twice or VT and Miami. Is that better than OSU with wins over PSU and Wisconsin? Probably not

If OSU wins out, they could have 4 top 25 wins at the end of the season: MSU, PSU, Michigan and Wisconsin. They also could only have 2. No one has any clue how things will play out

Yep.

If Ohio State wins out, SECCG loser, Oklahoma, Clemson, and Notre Dame get to lobby for the other two spots.

That's what I'm saying though. Just this weekend ND's schedule could take a huge hit (both future and past schedules). Or, it could be a great weekend for NDs schedule and they cement themselves with a great resume if 3 or 4 of those 4 win

I mean Michigan State is in the top 25 right now, and I'm sure Michigan is in the 26-30 range.

Won the title last year. All they have to do is just win out and they are in.

MSU lost to NW and will lose to PSU and tOSU. They aren't a top 25 team with 4 losses. Michigan will likely lose to Wisconsin and tOSU so they aren't a top 25 team with 4 losses. So basically you'll be left with a solid win over PSU and a win over a very overrated Wisconsin team.

Yup. When you lose a game you no longer control your destiny.

ND is not a lock but I don't believe any of the one loss teams are...Maybe Oklahoma

Every year teams with 4-5 losses are top 25 teams.

Last year teams who finished with 4+ losses in the top 25:

LSU, Florida, VT, Colorado, West Virginia, Miami, Louisville, Tennessee, Utah Auburn. Hell 10 of the top 25 were 8-4 or so at one point

So you don't think teams who finished with 4 losses will be in the top 25 this year?

I mean there have been 4 loss teams ranked every single year 2012, and multiple every year (like 5+ annually)

Unless Michigan beats Wisconsin they're not going top 25
They would have zero good wins

Michigan State has a good chance though

ND will be interesting too.

Ohio Star has the Trump card over Notre Dame if they win their conference.

Especially if Wisconsin is top 5 undefeated.
