Do you penalize Bama for playing the SECCG

Playing? No. Losing? Yes.

Losses should always always always always be penalized. I mean think about the alternative? Oh you lost but it doesn't actually count. What kind of world is that? Your resume is your resume and a gigantic part of your resume is losses.

With a loss in the seccg bama would have 3 losses

I really don’t think they will get bounced for a championship game loss to UGA. The SEC office would probably blow the entire thing up if that happens. Would be interesting though.

I agree with you completely.

My issue is with the SEC homers that will rag on ND for 2 close losses by a total of 4 points (top 15 squads) while conveniently forgetting Bama got blown out by a trash FSU.

I guess if Duke wins the ACC they wouldn’t be an auto in and that would open a spot.

Prediction: polls will bump USC up to 13ish in order to justify keeping ND in the playoff hunt.
Pitt got their arse kicked today, so the Trojans are Notre Dame's lone ranked win.

Navy will be in with Pitt and GT losing, and maybe SMU.

SMU is losing as I type this. Means Navy had 3 teams in front of them lose.

This. We’re looking for the 12 best teams, weighted more toward December since that’s when the playoffs actually are

Exactly. I truly believe ND would beat Miami now, and prob A&M AS WELL.

So, just like the old system, better to lose early than late?
Wasn't the BCS supposed to rid us of BS like that?

You are right.. every game matters. If they don’t make it so be it. But they are dominating everyone… and fun to watch. But if Bama loses to UGA, they would be out as well.

But wasn't that one of the supposed problems with the old poll era? Teams were penalized more for late losses than early losses?

Interestingly enough, ND and Miami have a lot of common data points

Stanford
Miami 42-7, ND 35-3 (halftime)
Syracuse
Miami 38-10, ND 70-7
NC State
Miami 41-7, ND 36-7
Pittsburgh
Miami 38-7, ND 37-15

And of course the h2h Miami win.

What is the justification for comments like this? To start November, ND beat 2 win BC by only 15.

Since then ND has beaten G5 Navy, Pittsburgh by less than Miami beat Pitt today, Syracuse who was starting a walk on QB and hasn’t won since September, and a 4 win Stanford team.
