The Dallas Cowboys have made more progress in their contract negotiations with quarterback Dak Prescott than Amari Cooper, according to a source.

the Cowboys seem to be nonplussed about making Prescott the highest paid player in team history.

That number will approach $30 million annually, according to a source, if not more

He's definitely a star judging by him being in every commercial on the NFL network.

Going to break the bank for Prescott and Zeke.

Good luck Cowboy fans.

This is a good thing. The more they pay Dak, the less they have to pay other players with the salary cap. Win, Win for Cowboys haters.

I hope they surpass 30/year with Dak, and give Zeke 18/year.

That will be glorious.

This. I like Dak enough and I get the Cowboys don't want to play QB roulette again, but 30 million is too much.

Something like the average of Matthew Stafford (27 mil/yr) or probably Derek Carr (25 mil/yr) is more appropriate. Might seem like splitting hairs but 3-5 million/year isn't something to sneeze at for the Cowboys.

Then again, Jerry Jones apparently loves salary cap hell.

Fun news on the Cooper contract negotiations:
quote:

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Clarence Hill reports the Cowboys view Amari Cooper's contract demands as "shockingly high."

Hill adds Dallas "openly recognizes the floor of his contract is $16 million annually," so Cooper's demands had to be significantly higher for the Cowboys to be shocked. Odell Beckham is currently the highest-paid receiver in the league at $18 million per year. Cooper might be looking to better that number.

i think a lot of this has to do with how much cap money is opening from romo/dez deals. anyone with an agent worth a shite was going to come for their payday.

Some of you are getting too excited. I'm almost certain the contract will be structured to where they can cut him if he's not performing and it won't kill their salary cap.

Right now is the time to laugh at the Cowboys.

We can discuss the realities of the contract when they come out.
