If the Cardinals get down big, look for them to hit a Cub in "retaliation" to Arrieta hitting Brandon Moss on the foot last night.

To St. Louis? From Chicago? I'm not saying the Cubs and Cards should be in primetime over the Mets and Dodgers, I'm saying they should both be in primetime.

Is there still a restriction on the number of night games in Chicago? Do they extend that number for playoff games? I was just curious if this had any factor in doing a day game.

I see nothing wrong with this. I hate the pussification of baseball. Surely Cubs fans aren't going to embrace the pussification, right? The Cards don't play pussy baseball. We aren't afraid to hit one of your players.

It is what it is.

yes although it's expanded and there are float days that if a network request a night game they can fit it in.

No, playoff and allstar games wouldn't count against that number.

In what way? Catching? frick yeah! One of the best in baseball. Hitting? Well, he hasn't been a great career hitter, so we don't really expect that from him.

He certainly makes our pitchers better. He's the best game manager in baseball. Period.

I don't think anyone could answer this question in the affirmative when talking about his bat, but it'll be interesting to see what lackey's zone is without yadi back there.

He's obviously better at the plate than he's shown. Swinging with one hand basically. I essentially see it as having 2 pitchers in the lineup.

I get the game manager stuff. But he's obviously struggling with this injury, hence him not being in the lineup.

Exactly

Losing Yadi is a big blow to the team. His experience, competitive fire, and leadership on the field is quite frankly the Cardinals secret weapon.

Yadi is the reason we so damn good every year.

After Baez's fielding performance last night I'd feel alot more comfortable with Castro at SS...neverthless In Joe We Trust

Really hoping Hammel can at least make it thru 5 innings. Bullpen is very well rested as our 2 long relief guys threw a combined 4 pitches last night

But like I said earlier if our offense picks up where we left off last night we are NLCS bound

And (for once) I'm serious about my post. Yadi, without question, is the best game manager in baseball. He's the reason our pitching is so good every year.

It'll be a sad sad day when Yadi retires. When that time comes, I hope the Cards hire him in some capacity after his retirement. His leadership is second to none.

Cards fans blew a gasket when Pujols left. They acted as if Pujols was this great leader and the sole reason the Cards were great.

When that happened I was frustrated at Pujols for giving up on what would've been a historic legacy with STL, but I tried to calm Cards fans down by reminding them that we still had Yadi and that Yadi is the reason the team is great...not Pujols.

Time proved me right.

We lost Pujols, LaRussa, and one of the best pitching coaches in the game, Dave Duncan in 2011. Everyone said we were going to be a shell of our former LaRussa led teams.

Well, they were wrong. And the reason they were wrong is because they didn't understand the value of a game manager like Yadi.
