This means their offense is more "efficient".

their offense only scored 17 points on the Saints.

They may have the best D and might win the NFC, but their offense is nothing special.

The offense moved the ball very well agaisnt the Saints each drive.

Remember two defensive TDs took away two possessions and a 9 minute drive in the 4th quarter ate most of the clock by design.

And theres the problem with yards per play. If you cant score points, then who gives a shite?

As far as yards per play, the best metric to measure offensive and defensive strength

I generally find net points per game to be a more useful metric, as it has a 100% correlation to winning.

Everything is situational and dependent on so many variables (spcific weekly game plan, injuries, having a lead/deficit, etc.) that the transitive property IMO doesn't apply with offensive scoring or total yards.

Efficieny ratings on both offense and defense (e.g. 3rd down %, yards/play, etc.) are a much better indicator.
