Yeah there is no way I can believe this is strictly a hockey thing. Had to have gone Mike Babcock on the players or something for Vegas to fire him.

Just waking up and hearing about Coach Gallant. Suffice to say that everyone here is in complete WTF mode...especially bringing in the Sharks' old coach. Unless there was something major behind the scenes, this comes off looking as bad / worse than Florida dumping him suddenly and making him take a cab from the arena when they fired him. It's almost like in one single morning, VGK undid everything they worked on for 3 years to get fan attention away from the incoming Raiders.

Man Vegas ownership must think real highly of themselves based on this:
quote:

It’s a shame to have to say this because Gerard Gallant is such a good person full of respect and humility. But for those asking, this was entirely performance based.

Even with the losing streak they are only 3 points off the Pacific division lead

I guess that they felt that with being in the middle of a long road trip (between that and the bye, they don't have a home game until Feb. 8th) and currently being outside looking in playoff wise, now was the time if they were going to do this. That's the only scenario that even remotely makes sense to me.

The only way to make the SJ - VGK rivalry any crazier is for Gallant to somehow wind up in SJ.

The Columbus Blue Jackets had their goalie walk for $70 million this summer, are paying their three goalies less than $3 million combined this season, and now have the 2nd best 5v5 save % and 3rd best save % overall

One point separates 1st place from 5th place in the Pacific. I still don’t get why the Golden Knights fired their coach.

That's a bit misleading, because all of the other teams have played between 1-3 games less than VGK. They also have more RWs, so they'd have tie breaker advantage.

That said, everyone here still thinks that it was a bad move and that management prematurely hit the panic button. VGK management continue to insist that the move was "strictly performance related, with no other determining factors."

After tonight's game at Boston, VGK have 10 days off, so I think that's when we'll see what kind of changes DeBoer installs.

As FB stated...if he keeps doing that in games where I bet the Caps...I'll go about my day with a smile.
