Man....Montreal is going to be fricking rocking for game 3

I think I had to argue that Montreal's/Toronto's fans were'nt "Overrated" a couple three weeks ago...I am guessing that won't be the case after game 3....

That hit warrants a suspension but since its the Pens it won't happen.

As they were in the first series. They performed better on the road than they did at home in the first series (as did the Pens). The Pens had a few lapses in intensity today, but still controlled the action for the most part. Game 3 should be interesting, but I like the Pens to take at least one in Montreal.

Crosby shows up in Montreal. Book it.

1-1, PP goal for SJ. Pavelski; no surprise there. He's been on fire.

Thats great news! Maybe we'll get our ESPN deal back...

If the WIngs do pull this one out, it's going to have to be in 7. Of course, the Sharks don't exactly have a "clutch" history so it's definitely not over. If the Wings hold serve at home, I think they can still take the series. Pretty impressive showing for SJ thus far though.

The most interesting stat from tonight's game other than the final score: penalties. Detroit 10, SJ 4. It's tough to deal with that many short handed situations. I thought Howard played quite well considering the circumstances. I'm thinking that Detroit will "commit" less penalties at home.
As far as the ratings article I posted, it's definitely a good sign. Those ratings are the highest they've had in 10 years and that obviously includes some ESPN years. Part of the reason for the increase is simply due to Versus being in more households, but a lot of it is due to the Olympics IMO and the increased coverage on ESPN, etc. I'm adamant that the sport sells itself as well as any other, but it simply hasn't had enough exposure. Now, the NHL just needs to get a new commish and work on a better t.v. deal once the current one expires. The good news is guys like Crosby, Ovie, Malkin, Kane, and Stamkos haven't even hit their primes and will be around for the next decade or so (barring the unforeseen). Great news for hockey overall. My guess is that this board will see a lot more hockey posts once a new t.v. deal is in place

Also, remember that ratings on Versus do not include local markets, where the game is blacked out. So hockey ratings appear lower than they are because, unlike say an ESPN game, the most interested fanbases won't get the game on Versus.

Oh, BTW -what has gotten into Joe Pavelski? Nine goals and four assists, a +/- of 7 and the current front-runner for the Smythe? He's playing out of his arse.

Agreed on both counts. For all his talk of "growing the game in States" Gary Butthead has lead the league into the retreat formation....
