I still think done properly like old Burkie is doing;
it appears that way, and that is the right way to do it If you can not bring in a good veteran core to build around. i really wished we had done that back in 2000 or even as late as last year.but now...we can probably forget it with the core Gainey brought in last year.

Baloo come on man what has Markov being out and Spacek being out of the line up done to the SOG count? arguably Montreal's best defenceman and top 3-4 in the league absent?
ah yes, great facts there. no doubt about it.

The visiting team must have their guys out first and Home team gets to match up against them...usually its top line against top line but somtimes its the checking line or best defensive line against the visitors best scoring line...Buffalo's Mike Peca was a perfect example of top defensive forward...that could score of course but a HOF two way player in my opinion....

That's part of the reason WHY it was terrible, not a reason why it asn't terrible. And behindthenet charted all of the shots taken on the Habs this playoffs - the low percentage shot thing is a myth. Teams took a normal amount of high percentage shots and rebound shots, based on the number of shots faced.
Still, it was a strategic decision to sit back and get pelted by 1000 shots. I can't believe it's this difficult to argue that that strategy is doomed to fail unless the goalie plays out of his mind (which Halak did for awhile).

Gainey=One of the best hockey minds in NHL...In fact he's left the organization unless i am mistaken what I wouldn't have given for him over the wasted years of John Ferguson Jr. (or dumbass clocksucker) as we like to refer to him.

So despite reading the past few pages...
...what does everyone REALLY think the immediate future for the Canadiens holds?

no,he stepped down as GM and is now an advisor to Pierre Gauthier the new GM. will he be next year??who knows. but he was an advisor this year once he stepped down mid-season.

certainly not the doom and gloom some people are predicting...unless the getbigger up front though I predict a lot of 7th/8th seeds.....

yep. you cannot expect him to stand on his head forever without some offensive and defensive help consistently. we scored enough the first two series and that defensive strategy worked, in the beginning, but when the d play really went down this series so did the offense it appeared for reasons i stated before. that really hurt halak.

yep. about right. need a big guy with hands on both the top lines, cut bait and fish. with some big guys cammy and gionta would be even better than they are which says alot. d must be upgraded too though.

Guys pure class, I painted his house in Peterborough when I ran a college pro painters crew one summer, if there is a tragedy or triumph in life his family has been through it....alive and dead....

quote:This team looks frighteningly like the 2004/05 Flames minus a Jarome Iginla type player. So I think they are looking at a half decade of bringing in expensive tweaks, thinking they are on the cusp, when they are really a team whose quality is closer to somewhere between the 7-10 seeds in the conference. They will fight for playoff births and be first round fodder.

A large contract to Halak could hamstring the organization. I have contempt for this Habs team because it is so so familiar to me as a Flames fan. It's like looking in a funhouse mirror.

I don't think you'll have to worry about d with sunburn playing like he's 30 years old and Markov coming back....

I love yah Balooooo
by extension does that mean you hate your team?

BS. the caps pelted us with shots , and a ton of them were from the outside. again, it was our strategy like i stated previously.go back and watch the games. of course they had some great opportunities up close. look who is on their team. OV? backie? semin?? hell who wouldn't have some close up shots when they fired basically 90 shots one game of which 53 were saves and 30 or 40 plus were blocked.

For whatever reason, I thought the Flames would have been able to stick around as a top team. They didn't fade away quickly, but they never won the Cup...which is asking alot, I know. Hell, I thought they were better than TB that year.

Watching them is drudgery. They have shipped out the most creative players and made a series of idiotic decisions that cannot be justified on any level. they care more about being tough than winning.
It's absolutely infuriating. Watching the Flames is like sticking pins in your eyes. It's torture.

ahhhhh but TB had the Andreychuk magic...
Ie his big fat arse parked infront of Calgary's net...side note played road hockey with Dave and the boys when I was little....we'd call him Mr. Junk goal back then too...
