Upset the CBJ didn't resign MacKenzie. He was a steal for a million a year. Great 4th liner.

@MolinariPG: Penguins sign former Columbus winger Blake Comeau 1 year 700K.

@Real_ESPNLeBrun: Stars first line Benn-Seguin pairing. Second line Spezza-Hemsky pairing. Ok, goals anyone?

5 years 27.5 million for Brooks Orpik in Washington.

Poor Baloo, that's so bad I don't even want to rag on him.

I need to go strangle a puppy.

There is nothing good about this deal. You shouldn't sign a GOOD player who is 34 years old to a 5 year, $5.5 million deal. Orpik is old and terrible. This won't be a toxic contract in two years, it is toxic right now.

Fire the GM. I know he's only been on the job for a month, but fire him. This is rank incompetence.

Don't see any Clarkson's out there this year.

Well, I was wrong. There are TWO in that realm. Bolland, the first. And sadly, I think that's only the second-worst of the day. That Orpik contract is absolutely horrendous. Might be one of the worst signings of all time given his age.

@Chris_Gates: If Orpik gets that deal, then Matt Niskanen deserves $78 million over the next 27 years.

I'm not kidding, fire the GM. No honeymoon, no nothing. Fire him before he sinks this franchise. The Caps had ELEVEN MILLION in cap space and really only two major holes. Now the Caps have $6.5 million, and the holes have not been addressed.

Still no 4D, and not enough cash to sign a 2C. frick everything.

Depth depth depth! They obviously needed the 2nd line center, but they also needed to add legit depth across the board. Hemsky adds much needed help. I couldn't be happier about how this morning as gone for them.

You know the real kicker is that Orpik fricked his knee up bad in the postseason. And still gets that deal after a terrible season.

I don't remember the exact injury but it was bad.

Any Age 35+ contract automatically has a no-movement clause and a recapture penalty. It's part of the CBA.

The only positive about this deal is that it finally gets Hog to admit that Orpik fricking sucks.
