I think this was the sort of game we expected to see, and haven't yet. Boston plays suffocating D, lets Tampa fire a whole bunch of long shots with no second chances, and the B's just wait for that one defensive breakdown (and God, was it horrible) to score. Kind of a boring strategy, but pretty effective. Especially when you have Tim Thomas in net.
I think the big thing is that Boston's coaching staff has lacked the arrogance of Boudreau, and adjusted to Tampa's 1-3-1 system by simply chipping the puck in the zone and swinging around it. The Caps played a bit of the "you adjust to us, we don't adjust to you" card and promptly lost. The Bruins have adjusted and now it's Tampa's turn to find another idea other than the 1-3-1. Tyler Seguin, especially, has been eating it alive. If he gets past the neutral zone trap, he's essentially 1-on-1 with a head of steam. The B's have to like those odds.
I'm curious how, or even if, the Bolts will adjust. Its not like they got blown off the ice. Stick to the system, and maybe you'll get a result. But a real fascinating chess game has developed in this series.
