What other option is there? Unless you think he was planning on hijacking a plane.still , he knows that it’s not allowed and would get found for sure.
There's many options. But how do you FORGET you just placed a pistol in your suitcase?
It says suitcase. He probably thought it would make it onto the plane. And therefore he'd have a pistol once he reached his destination.
If he had it in a carry on, he's even dumber. No normal human, who travels as he does often, think they could get anything thru in a carry-on.

Of course he forgot
So you think he was dusting around the house, grabbed a loaded pistol, and though.....hmmmmm, why don't I just hide this in the suitcase I just packed, and remember later to put it in the house safe?

one of Brown's bags was found to have a firearm inside, which our sources say was unloaded.
Hard to tell from story. Seems if he had more than 1 bag, it was in his suitcase.
"TSA" screening. Do they have those while ALL luggage is still in your possession?

Even if you have a Concealed Carry license, you can't even go within 500 feet of an airport.
You can carry (both concealed and openly) in airports here.

Why does this happen so often?
quote:Maybe people who normally travel with a gun when they drive OOT just forget the gun's in the bag. Especially the ones who saw their dad get blown away with a shotgun.
`My God, I didn't take that pistol out of my bag.'
quote:
"I took my bag in security and wondered why my bag had stopped," Switzer said. "I'm waiting, having a conversation with people. I look up, and there's two police officers standing beside me. I look at them, and they look at me with a serious look. All of a sudden I realize, `My God, I didn't take that pistol out of my bag.' "

This is not true

Was it legally owned? If so, this is a non-story.
It’s gonna be a lot of legal headaches for him, but I doubt he was planning to shoot up an airport. He probably just forgot it was in there
This, if it wasn't loaded I don't see what the big deal is? They don't even mention if their was ammo present so I am going to work off the theory that there was not otherwise you know the media wouldn't have left that part out.
